Yedyna Hromada/United Community

Укр. Eng.

The Yedyna Hromada/United Community (YH) program fosters community cohesion in conflict-affected regions of eastern Ukraine. The program builds community members’ tolerance and communication skills to promote a shared vision of the community’s future.

The program creates dialogue among community residents, internally displaced persons, local government officials, civil society actors, and other stakeholders. It also provides small grants for joint community projects to build trust, address pressing needs, and help communities resist divisive influences.

Quick Facts

  • Yedyna Hromada works with key influencers—local government officials, media professionals, civil society actors, and informal community leaders—in 12 target communities in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.
  •
  • YH capitalizes on the opportunity to shift perceptions of community members through a person-to-person methodology.
  •
  • The program elevates marginalized voices, in particularly internally displaced persons, women, veterans, ethnic minorities, and youth.
  •
  • YH works with diverse populations to build tolerance through a carefully developed training program.

Goals

  1. Build the capacity of key influencers to lead and facilitate conflict resolution and cohesion-building activities in eastern Ukraine.
  2. Facilitate meaningful dialogue in a safe space to foster trust, tolerance, and positive relations among community members.
