Job Title: Ukraine SCORE Specialist

Summary:
The Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development (SeeD) works with international organisations, governments and civil society leaders to design and implement evidenced-based strategies which help countries’ progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals that promote peaceful societies, empower women and youth, and improve citizens’ connectedness in urban spaces.
Ukraine Country SCORE Specialist will be part of SeeD’s Eastern Europe Research team and support the coordination of Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Index (SCORE) processes implemented by SeeD and its international partners including USAID, UNDP and UNICEF among others. The Ukraine Country SCORE Specialist will work closely with the Eastern Europe Regional SCORE Specialist based in Kyiv, and SeeD Head of Operations based in the UK and SeeD Data Team based in Cyprus. The Specialist, will first be recruited on a trial period of 3 months as an Assistant Country Specialist until completing his/her SCORE methodology and field training. The Specialist will be responsible of implementing SeeD’s Ukraine projects, particularly focusing on the visualization of raw data analysis outputs as per stakeholder needs but also contributing to the fieldwork design, data interpretation and policy work, networking and consultations meetings with key stakeholders, and organizing and conducting dialogue groups. Duties and responsibilities:
Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of the SCORE methodology, and maintain regular communication with the Head of Learning and Innovation to identify and address knowledge gaps;
Work closely with the Operations and Data Team to identify and produce high quality research outputs, and visualize raw data analysis outputs (e.g. anova tables, regression models,frequency reports and etc.) into infographics, presentations and other digestible and audience-friendly products, based on stakeholder needs and priorities;
Work closely with Head of Operations and Head of Global Engagement to understand and interpret the research findings, and their policy implications, and be able to elicit key messages for different audiences in collaboration with the Eastern Europe Research Team and implementing partners;
Accompany and support the Eastern Europe Regional SCORE Specialist in stakeholder engagement in Ukraine, and in organization of events, meetings and consultations with key political and societal stakeholders;
Support the Eastern Europe Research team in conceptualizing, designing, implementing and reporting research processes and contribute to the organization and implementation of project deliverables and activities such as reflection group meetings, participatory dialogue meetings and public outreach events as per project contract obligations and deliverables;
Support administrative and organizational tasks of the current projects in Ukraine such as preparing reports, project updates, translation of outputs into Russian and Ukrainian;
Contribute to communications and outreach strategy by creating and developing innovative dissemination material such as visuals, graphs, infographics, social media posts and updates;
Build and maintain a network of donor organizations and funders committed to supporting SCORE and the work SeeD in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
Knowledge and Experience: Essential qualifications:
• Masters degree in sociology, psychology, political science, international relations, development studies or other relevant field;
• Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and minimum 3 years of experience in the design and implementation of interdisciplinary research and in the publications of results;
• Good understanding of raw data analysis outputs such as regression, anova, syntax and similar;
• Good sense and understanding of audience empathy and communicating research and academic content;
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data visualization (conditional formatting, chart design);
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in donor funded project management and NGO work particularly in peacebuilding, development, reconciliation, mediation and similar;
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English, Russian and Ukrainian;
• A strong commitment to peace, sustainable development and the principles of SeeD;
• Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills;
• Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism and thoroughness;
Desirable Knowledge, Experience and Skills
• Doctoral degree in sociology, psychology, political science, international relations, development studies or other relevant field;
• Knowledge of design software such as Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop;
• Knowledge of and experience in facilitation techniques;
• Good knowledge of statistics programmes such as SPSS/STATA;
• Experience in producing policy analysis outputs such as policy briefs.
Terms of Engagement:
Depending on qualifications, expertise and years of experience, monthly fees can range from 1000 - 1500 EUR / 1150 - 1750 USD. Contract will be based on a consultancy services agreement. The initial contract will be for a 2.5-month trial period (15th October – 31st December 2018), where the successful candidate will work as assistant to SeeD’s Eastern Europe SCORE Specialist. The Ukraine SCORE Specialist would be home-based, in Kyiv, Ukraine for the duration of this contract. All programme-related travel expenses, including travel insurance will be fully covered.
