Job Title: Regional Advocacy Manager, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Bureau

Location: Eastern Europe and Central Asia; preferably Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine

Reports to: Eastern Europe and Central Asia Bureau Chief, based in the Netherlands

Job purpose: Manage region-wide projects with main focus on advocacy and policy change

About AHF: AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy regardless of ability to pay to over 150,000 PLWH in more than 20 countries, including Estonia, Lithuania, Russia and Ukraine. AHF core values are: patient centered, respect for diversity, values employees, nimble and fight for what is right. Worldwide AHF is embarked on a rapid testing initiative to identify and refer to treatment the millions people who don’t know they HIV positive. To achieve ‘Global AIDS Control’ an aggressive re-integration of condoms is critical to success. The LOVE Condoms Campaign goal, launched by AHF, is to scale-up to 100% access to free condoms worldwide.

Position summary: The Manager will primary be responsible for the timely and structured management of region-wide policy change programs with focus on rapid testing, linkage to treatment, and condoms advocacy initiatives Key Responsibilities: Dynamic individual will play a key role in supporting the Chief of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Bureau to develop, implement and evaluate advocacy and policy change agenda and to promote the work of AHF at the national and regional levels.

  • Contribute to the strategizing and planning of AHF regional advocacy and policy change work.
  • Plan, develop and monitor implementation of advocacy strategy according to AHF mission and core values
  • Coordinate AHF advocacy and policy change programs with other regional and national development networks, with key decision and policy makers, and liaise with national media
  • Build appropriate partnerships with other organisations to develop policies in relation to AHF advocacy agenda.
  • Promote the work of AHF at the national and regional levels
  • Maintain good working relationships with AHF partners and external agencies
  • Provide information on funding opportunities to support advocacy work in the region.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience of work in policy and advocacy with either HIV/AIDS organization or a development agency
  • Strong working knowledge on issues related to HIV/AIDS with focus on the epidemic in Eastern Europe and Central Asia
  • Native or near native Russian language skills, good command of English both speaking and writing.
  • Used to dealing with challenging deadlines and in coordinating multidisciplinary teams across countries and cultures
  • Capable of understanding scientific information and translating that information into clear communication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a team player for the strong eye to detail who can handle multiply challenges and enjoys working in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and to deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel region-wide on a regular basis
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office
