Internews is seeking candidates for the position of Media Law Analyst.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

•   Work with the Internews director and deputy director to advise on media legal issues.

•   Monitor developments/amendments/implementation of media laws in Ukraine, and publications in open sources on this topic.

•   Stay up to date with relevant and useful international practices in media legislation and advise relevant Internews’ partners on bringing appropriate provisions to Ukraine’s media laws.

•   Supervise the project implementation of Internews’ partners involved in advocating for and developing policy for the improvement of the operating environment for media.

•   Produce weekly updates and ad hoc briefings on media legal issues.

•   Draft sections for Internews semi- and annual reports to donors.

•   Other duties as assigned by Internews management.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

•   Native-level Ukrainian, fluent written and spoken English

•   3+ years professional experience in media law analysis and policy, program management, including experience working in Ukraine.

•   Solid understanding of international and Ukrainian media law, media development and/or other civil society development issues in Ukraine

•   Experience supporting donor-funded projects

•   Experience monitoring and evaluating project results through project-level indicators and targets

•   Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information with discretion

•   Demonstrated interpersonal skills including diplomacy, tact, and the ability to negotiate

•   Superior analytical and writing skills and experience conducting desk research

•   Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively

•   Excellent oral communication and presentation skills

•   Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment

•  Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office programs
