QUALIFIED TRANSLATOR — MEDICAL ACTIVITY IN BAKHMUT HOSPITAL, DONETSK OBLAST

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries to populations in distress, to victims of natural or manmade disasters and to victims of armed conflicts, without discrimination and irrespective of origin, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MSF is a civil society initiative that brings together individuals committed to the assistance of other human beings in crisis. As such MSF is by choice an association. Each individual working with MSF does it out of conviction and is ready to uphold the values and principles of MSF.

We are urgently looking for translator, flexible and ready to work in different areas.

Main tasks:

• Translate and interpret discussions, meetings and medical consultation.

• Translate documents from / to English language into Ukrainian/Russian one upon request.

• Performing administrative tasks required by supervisor (arrangement of meetings, minute taking). Providing necessary feedback to supervisor following discussions and negotiations. Assisting with report writing (CF and Government required reports), ensuring that all meeting minutes are recorded and that translated documents are properly filed.

• Always keep respect towards beneficiaries, collaborators, authorities, military factions and staff participating in discussions.

• Ensure confidentiality of all translation is maintained.

• Ensure neutrality and accuracy when translating.

• Declare any «conflict of interest» when asked to translate (e.g. personal involvement) which another staff member would be required for translation.

• Inform international staff about local customs, tradition, etc., that will help understand better the context and better communicate.

Requirements: Translator degree (English). Desirable computer literacy (word).

Experience: Previous working experience required. Two years minimum in a similar social job; experience with MSF or other NGOs, desirable.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in medical spheres translation.

Languages: Fluent English and Ukrainian.

You will work with MSF surgical team in the hospital of Bakhmut. Accommodation provided by MSF.
