INTRODUCTION

The Right to Protection, CF (R2P) is a charitable fund that strives for Ukraine to become a country where refugees, stateless, non-citizens and displaced persons enjoy dignity and protection. 

Since the beginning of the conflict in the East of Ukraine R2P has been monitoring the protection situation of IDPs, providing legal assistance and strengthening humanitarian response in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya regions. Currently, R2P expands its activities in the West regions of Ukraine and is looking for the Deputy Communication Officer to become a part of our team to share our values and to strengthen R2P potential.

POSITION SUMMARY

Deputy Coordinator (DC)  is to manage the public information activities of the organization in the Western Ukraine under supervision of R2P PI Coordinator.  DC works as a part of the PI Unit  in close cooperation with Advocacy, Legal, Protection, Humanitarian and MHPSS Coordinators as well as the R2P’s Programme Managers. 

The position is settled in Lviv. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that relevant programme materials are developed and disseminated to target groups through relevant media and network channels. 

• Co-develop and maintain contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets (print, web, social media etc.) within and outside Ukraine to increase coverage of conservation issues in the media (print, broadcast and digital). 

• Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials. 

• Ensure timely and quality production of branding materials such as periodicals, annual and donor reports, supplements, briefing notes, Human Interest Stories, picture stories, videos, etc.

• Organizing and generating public support for special events and campaigns to promote strategic goals. 

• Media support organization of workshops, seminars, campaigns, events and project review meetings.

• Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication materials and programme’s events/campaigns to target audiences. 

• In collaboration with the PI Coordinator, assist the Development unit in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Higher education in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field;

• At least five years of similar work experience is required. 

• Candidate should be able to work independently – with minimum supervision and guidance from supervisors. Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage. 

• Excellent written and oral Ukrainian and English communication skills. 

• Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Publisher). Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage. 

• Good analytical skills and attention to detail;

• Experience of working with the Ukrainian Parliament and Ukrainian executive state institutions is a strong asset. Desirable is experience of working with the EU and the EU institutions;

• Experience or knowledge of humanitarian aid and development policy and research as well as specific knowledge and experience in working with IDPs human rights situation is a strong asset;

• Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy;

• Treat all people fairly without favoritism;

• Fulfill all obligations to gender sensitivity and zero tolerance for sexual harassment;

• Commitment to teamwork;

• Highly motivated self-starter;

• Flexibility.
