Finance Assistant - Save the Children International in Ukraine

ROLE PURPOSE:

Finance Assistant will provide financial support to Ukraine Office. Finance Assistant will be primarily responsible for filing, initial check of supporting documents and record keeping in compliance with the SCI financial policies and procedures and in line with local law requirements. 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Awards/Finance Manager

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Financial Accounting, Reporting, and Control

  • Ensure the SCI policies, procedures and guidelines including specific grant/donor requirements, local law and taxation requirements are followed; take appropriate measures of control to minimise the risk of fraud or theft.
  • Review all payment requests generated by the program, supply chain, admin units ensuring that all back-up documentation and approvals are available for transactions; work with the supply chain staff and collect original documents for processing payments, such as service completion note, goods received note, invoice, RFQ, CBA, etc.
  • Review sub-award financial reports ensuring that all back-up documentation are followed SCI procedures and policies.
  • Perform entries into financial management system (Agresso), including timely entry of all transactions. Ensure that the cost description in the vouchers, cashbook, journals and that the quality of overall meets the internal guidelines.
  • Check petty cash payments and cash management report.
  • Maintain proper filing system for the cashbook, transaction vouchers and other financial documents under his/her responsibility; assist finance department in daily bookkeeping tasks.
  • Prepare wire transfers to sub-awardees, suppliers and contractors based on duly approved document.
  • Assist the finance and administration team with ensuring all financial documentation is filed (securely) in both hard copies and scanned. Perform additional routine administrative duties, as needed. (Purchase Request, paperwork etc.)
  • Prepare the document base on external/ internal Auditors query.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in higher level of education, preferably in Economy, Accounting or Finance Management
  • Recommended 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required) and Russian/Ukrainian
  • Computer literate (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent attention to detail, and discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Proven ability to handle challenging work load
  • Knowledge or experience of NGO work desirable
