Ukrainian Red Cross Society is the biggest humanitarian organization in Ukraine, which for more than 103 years has focused on the protection of human life, health and dignity. In the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, there are 24 regional and 630 district organizations in Ukraine with more than 5 700 members and 3 000 volunteers involved.

Based in the office of Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) National Committee in Kyiv, PSS Technical Advisor is in charge to support the URCS’s HQ PSS Unit to ensure the quality of the psychosocial support services that are provided to beneficiaries in regions, as well as preparation and training of volunteers/staff, and establishing system of support.
Qualification requirements
− University degree, preferably in the field of social science, psychology, public health, humanitarian faculty
− At least three years of professional experience in the humanitarian or psychosocial support sphere is required
− Previous work experience in the development of trainings, strategy, policies and tools in psychosocial support is an asset
− The ability to facilitate trainings is a strong asset
− Work experience in the international context is an asset
− Understanding of the supervision system and mechanism
− Good time management, organisational and analytical skills
− Integrity and honesty in dealing with confidential information
− Ability to work independently and execute tasks in a reliable and competent manner
− Strong ability to communicate with people and colleagues at different levels
− Ability to travel to different regions of Ukraine
− Team worker
Tasks and responsibilities
The main purpose of the PSS Technical Advisor’s activity is to promote the quality and development of psychosocial support services through the adaptation and creation of PSS tools, training, support and supervision of instructors/volunteers and staff of the URCS.
Technical PSS:
− Ensures proper PSS activities design and implementation
− Monitors quality of the PSS activities including field visits to branches
− Prepares, disseminates and monitors relevant PSS guidelines and materials use
− Together with other trainers prepares PSS/PFA instructorsand trains staff and volunteers to provide PSS/PFA
− Provides technical guidance to PSS trainers/instructors and regional and local level PSS coordinators to improve the quality of PSS provided
− Provide regular supervision to the PSS/PFA trainers
− Ensures the implementation of the PSS minimum standards
Organizational and methodology development:
− Supports the PSS Unit coordinator in developing strategy, policies, SOPs and global action plan
− Contributes actively to PSS development at the National level
− Takes part in planning, preparation and activities organisation
− Contributes to assessments, baseline studies, participatory assessments etc. as relevant
− Contributes to the organization and facilitation of the National PSS Events
− Prepares methodological materials on MHPSS
− Keeps the electronic database of trainers/instructors
− Prepares review of the instructor’s activity/quality of trainings
− Contributes to the development of the supervision system in URCS
− Contributes to the development of the caring for carers mechanism in link with Volunteer development Unit
− Regular assessments and revisions of the educational system for volunteers if needed
Coordination, information and communication:
− Coordinates regularly with all URCS departments to address PSS cross-cutting issues
− Coordinates the activities of the PSS expert group and serve as its member (by position)
− Together with the Expert Group develops and implements the guidelines and resolves any issues concerning the training process
− Together with the Expert Group develops PSS training modules
− Prepares communication materials to raise awareness about mental health and psychosocial support
− Ensures reporting on the PSS implementation process within her/his competence
− Participates in the exchange with Red Cross partners in the Country on PSS matters
− Maintains confidentiality concerning the contents of URCS documents and the information received during the implementation of PSS activities, except for the information which is publicly disclosed by URCS
The rights and obligations of the PSS Technical Advisor are distributed throughout the territory in which URCS carries out its statutory activities.

Must know
• Knowledge on Humanitarian, development and social fields
• Knowledge of psychology, social work and protection
• Laws, state legal acts, standards, methodological and normative materials on issues that are part of the professional sphere of activity
• Excellent level of written and spoken English
• Excellent level of computer skills MS Office, Word andExcel
• Knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
Relationships (communications) by position
The PSS Technical Advisor will report directly to the Head of the PSS Unit. He/she will work in close cooperation with the PSS Specialists and co-manage the regional Trainers and PSS/PFA instructors. Daily communication and coordination within the Unit, as well as with other Units and Departments are expected. The PSS Technical Advisor will ensure regular cooperation and communication with some international partners.

DURATION: 12 MONTHS
