Project Assistant (Kyiv)

Location: Kyiv and Kyiv region, Ukraine 

Reports to: Youth Entrepreneurship Specialist (Ukraine-based) 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Making Cents International seeks a Project Assistant to work on the USAID-funded Ukraine National Identity Through Youth (UNITY) activity. UNITY seeks to foster vested ownership among young people in the country’s democratic, European future by further mobilizing youth leadership of a values-based conception of Ukrainian identity grounded in innovation, engagement, and pluralism. To that end, this activity will simultaneously address the key domains identified in USAID’s Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach: building youth assets, fostering resilience, offering age-appropriate experiences for youth contribution, and strengthening the enabling environment, while intentionally and safely promoting dialogue and belonging around this pluralistic identity and incentivizing participation and leadership by historically marginalized groups. 

The Project Assistant will support the effective implementation of the activity’s Objective 1Expand economic opportunities for youth through innovation, entrepreneurship, and career preparedness. 

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support day-to-day management of Objective 1 activities; 
  • Coordinate project components by providing programmatic, administrative, and logistical planning and implementation; 
  • Provide web-based research assistance for projects and publications; 
  • Translate program-related documents between English and Ukrainian (example document types include training sessionsgrantee reports, talking points); 
  • Support effective collaboration with project team, partners, consultants, stakeholders, experts, trainers, program regional coordinators, mentors and coaches, youth, representative of targeted hromadas; 
  • Assist in organization of events such as trainings, meetings, and workshops; 
  • Travel to UNITY activity sites (as COVID-19 restrictions allow); 
  • Coordinate with UNITY staff and Making Cents’ technical staff based in the United States; 
  • Contribute to activity planning, reporting, data analysis, and budgets as requested; and 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • A minimum of two years of work experience 
  • Strong command of spoken/written English and Ukrainian 
  • Excellent writing skills (Ukrainian and English) 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks in accordance with stated deadlines 
  • Ability to travel within Ukraine 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATES HAVE: 

  • Experience in working with youth from ages 15-35 and/or young entrepreneurs 

  • Experience supporting programs funded by the US Government and/or other donor funding program
