Translator and Interpreter services, EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine

Work description: Translation of training materials and produced documents from English to Ukrainian and also vice versa.

Project: EU4Skills, Better Skills for Modern Ukraine project, supports the reform of vocational education and training in Ukraine. The aim is to make training more responsive to the labour market needs and help young people and adults live up to their potential. EU4Skills is a multi-donor action of the European Union (EU) and its member states Germany, Finland, Poland, and Estonia. EDUFI is responsible for the development of occupational standards and the implementation of Finland’s contribution.

Task Description: The translator and interpreter service provider will be contracted by EDUFI. The work includes translation of vocational education related documents and project materials, consecutive, simultaneous online and later also on-site interpretation during training sessions and task meetings from English to Ukrainian language. Some documents will also be translated from Ukrainian to English. Once the COVID-19 situation allows trainings requiring translation will take place in 7 regions in the Ukraine. However, most documents will be digital. Interpreter services will also be needed for experts’ meetings.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing accurate and timely translation services for the project. 
  • Providing consecutive, simultaneous interpretation services in webinars, during experts’ missions, trainings, seminars, workshops, meetings, and other project events when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Linguistic skills: Fluency in spoken and written Ukrainian and English. Strong previous experience of translation and interpretation of educational contents. Knowledge of vocational education terminology is preferred.  
  • Professional experience: At least 5 years’ experience in translation and interpretation of similar tasks. References of the successful work in regional and national level projects. Previous work in international projects.
  • Skills and knowledge: Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Wordpress and Google Education tools etc.); excellent organizational and communication skills; capacity to work independently as well as a part of multicultural team; highly motivated and readiness to work hard and flexibly.
  • WILL BE CONSIDERED AS AN ASSET:  Previous experience of working with MoES; Knowledge of vocational education and training sector; Knowledge of EU4Skills.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT
EDUFI will contract a service provider through an open tender procedure. Service provider will be an independent and undertake the full responsibility for the payment of all taxes and obligations deriving from the legislation in force, including for those related to medical and social insurance. Reimbursements will be paid based on actual monthly translation and interpretation work. The contract will run from the date of the signature throughout the period of implementation of the Finnish project, considering any possible prolongation of the project. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. EDUFI reserve the right to contract more than one service provider. The interviews will take place in Zoom or TEAMS meetings, the exact date and time will be communicated with at least one week notice in advance.

Copies of registration documents (including a copy of the certificates of state registration of legal entities which the Participant plans to apply for the provision of services, a copy of the tax certificate; an Extract from the Statute indicating the activities).
