Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Coordination Officer, and the direct supervision of the Head of Field Office, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of IOM Ukraine’s Emergency and Stabilization efforts in the Eastern Conflict Area.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the overall implementation of Emergency and Stabilization efforts.
  1. Aid project specialists in contracting partners, assist in procurement of goods and services.
  1. Support project specialists in regular reporting (IOM internal, IOM external, UN-related, including 3W and situation reporting), correspondence, publication and presentation materials.
  1. Assist in the logistics and organization of Emergency and Stabilization-related activities and events (meetings, presentations, discussions, visits, etc.).
  1. Provide informal interpretation and written translation (English/Ukrainian, Russian as well) when necessary.
  1. Draft official and unofficial correspondence in English and Ukrainian (Russian if necessary).
  1. Take notes at relevant programme events.
  1. Render support to programme visibility as necessary.
  1. Undertake duty travel within Ukraine, to areas selected for Emergency and Stabilization programming, on an as-needed basis.
  1. Perform other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least four years of relevant work experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (preferably in public administration, law, political science, international relations) from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of responsible work experience.

Experience

  • Excellent level of computer literacy
  • Knowledge of humanitarian activities and context is advantageous
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced with organizational and administrative duties.
  • Experience in humanitarian activities in NGCA is an advantage

Languages

Fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian is required.
