QA Automation Engineer

To support the MOH efforts, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a five-year contract for Safe, Affordable, and Effective Medicines for Ukrainians (SAFEMed) to Management Sciences for Health (MSH) in September 2017.

SAFEMed applies health system-strengthening best practices to create evidence-based interventions and strengthen Ukraine’s pharmaceutical system in line with the MOH’s health care reform objectives.

Since 2015, the MOH has led ambitious and fast-paced procurement reforms aimed on improving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and transparency. Purchasing medicines with the help of international organizations, reforms addressed immediate needs during times of political and economic difficulty. By 2018, the focus had shifted to the establishment of a state-owned transparent procurement entity, and with support from USAID and other donors, Ukraine’s Medical Central Procurement Agency (CPA) began to take over. Now it is fast-growing, ambitious and reform-oriented state enterprise expending its structure to be able to respond in fast and timely manner to the state procurement needs.

It is planned to create a national system “Information system of accounting of medicines and medical devices in Ukraine.” The system will be built on the basis of an out-of-box ERP solution. It aims to:

  • Ensure continuous availability of appropriate medicines at all levels;

  • Reduce storage deficiencies and excess storage, and, thus, minimize losses;

  • Make rational decisions regarding provision of services, distribution of the budget, the competence of service providers, institutional capacity and other parameters;

  • Improve cost efficiency and increase patient satisfaction.

The project implementation period - 1.5-2 years. For a quality implementation of the project we are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer to strengthen our team.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Application testing and providing feedback on possible system improvements;

  • Discussing verification protocols with the project team;

  • Collaborating with the project team and developers to solve application faults.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Identifying quality issues and creating test reports;

  • Identifying software application weaknesses and target areas;

  • Sketching out ideas for automated software test procedures;

  • Reviewing software bug reports and highlighting problem areas;

  • Writing automation scripts and implementing software applications;

  • Designing and installing software databases;

  • Troubleshooting automation software and finalizing system procedures;

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a similar field;

  • Previous experience working as a QA automation engineer;

  • Advanced programming skills including automation systems and databases;

  • Familiarity with programming script languages including Java and VBScript;

  • Detailed knowledge of application functions, bug fixing, and testing protocols;

  • Languages proficiency: Ukrainian/Russian – fluent, English - B2-C1 (Upper intermediate) is a must.

  • Ability to work in multitasking environment, prioritize tasks, ability to handle stress;

  • High level of motivation and proactive civil position. Our candidate is decent, with zero-tolerance to corruption, and has motivation to be involved in major changes and be part of medical system transformation.

  • Excellent presentation skills. Ability to articulate own statements and ideas clearly and structurally.

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to generate, share and support the Scrum team spirit and overall Agile values. 

Reporting: 

  • Monthly reports on deliverables status. Report directly to SAFEMed STA on Supply Chain.

Terms of employment:

  • Contract period - 1 year, start from 1st August 2021

  • A decent financial reward (contract funded by the USAID SafeMed project);

  • Office in the Kyiv center (Khreschatyk/Maidan Nezalezhnosti)/remout (most of the time).
