Summary of Position:
The IREX office in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Training and Curriculum Developer for the Learn to Discern for Education, Decision Makers, and Journalistsproject. The Training and Curriculum Developer will work under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager and will be responsible for designing training programs in accordance with project goals and outcomes; facilitating trainings and trainings of trainers (ToT); adapting existing resources for different audiences’ needs and developing new curricula; adjusting training methodology for online and blended learning; and strengthening trainers’ and participants’ capacity for online collaboration. The position will require frequent travel throughout the country (depending on the severity of COVID-19). This position is contingent upon funding.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review and update existing media literacy curriculum;
- Lead the adaptation of the Learn to Discern and Securing Access to Free Expression (L2D/SAFE) curriculum for journalists: communicate with experts and authors, edit texts and presentations;
- Lead the adaptation of the Data for Leaders curriculum for decision makers: communicate with experts and authors, edit texts and presentations;
- Adjust training methodology for online and blended learning;
- Prepare facilitators’ guides for offline training and online workshops;
- Prepare technical tasks for designers to create visuals and layout of curricula;
- Prepare instructions for trainers and participants on usage of online tools;
- Develop new curricula and training modules if needed for project goals;
- Work closely with M&E staff to ensure that the training curriculum fosters the skills necessary for the project’s goals;
- Lead trainings, ToTs, workshops, webinars;
- Provide mentorship for trainers;
- Contribute to development of the awareness campaigns to promote media literacy for different audiences;
- Adapt educational L2D materials for different platforms, in particular for the educational government platforms;
- Participate in the established educational working groups meetings organized by government institutions or partners;
- Drive innovation into L2D materials and stay up to date with the developments and latest research related to disinformation, media and information literacy and critical thinking;
- Establish positive collaboration and interact regularly with government officials, civil society, opinion leaders, members of international community and other program stakeholders;
- Travel to program implementation sites to monitor implementation;
- Represent IREX publicly and support its organizational development
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree in international development, journalism, public administration, management, political science, communications and/or another relevant field is preferred;
- Experience in media literacy work or study is a strong advantage;
- At least 5 years’ experience in media or educational area;
- At least 3 years’ experience as a trainer;
- Knowledge and use of interactive methods and online tools in developing curricula and training materials;
- Demonstrated understanding of media landscape and media environment in Ukraine;
- Excellent writing skills, ability to develop educational materials and finalize expert materials according to one style and requirements;
- Strong experience in curriculum adaptation and design;
- Ability to use creative approaches and innovations in re-designing of educational materials for different audiences;
- Demonstrated success in maintaining excellent collaborations with partners organizations, and ability to establish productive relationships with government officials, opinion leaders, and citizen groups at national and local levels;
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate dialogue and work constructively with a diverse range of actors and to accommodate divergent interests and agendas in a multi-cultural environment;
- Excellent communications skills, including ability to make public presentations;
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Strong command of spoken/written English and Ukrainian;
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects in accordance with stated deadlines;
- Ability to frequently travel throughout Ukraine.
