POSITION SUMMARY 

IREX Ukraine seeks a strategic, innovative and collaborative Senior Partnerships Manager (SPMfor the Ukraine National Identity Through Youth (UNITY) program, funded by USAID and implemented by IREXThis five-year activity is designed to foster vested ownership among the Ukrainian youth in their country’s democratic, European future by further mobilizing youth leadership of a values-based conception of Ukrainian identity grounded in innovation, engagement, and pluralism.  

 

Working in close collaboration with the Chief of Party, the Senior Partnerships Manager will ensure that UNITY’s local engagement strategy with private and public sector is fully realized across all objectivesA self-starter, s/he will continually map networks of stakeholders and assess new opportunities to increase support of the mission of IREX’s UNITY program through new models of engagement with partners across sectors. S/he will spearhead new partnerships to achieve UNITY’s objectives, including partnerships with the private sector, CSOs, local philanthropists, regional foundations, and municipalitiesThe Senior Partnerships Manager will ensure that other donor/implementer programs are appropriately leveraged and identify new relationships with CSOs, local government and private sectore successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Ukraine’s political economy and local networks in youth development. The SPM will work with UNITY technical leads and professionals across IREX to cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurship and support colleagues in developing new initiatives in areas of priority to UNITY program. S/he will maintain a broad understanding of UNITY’s comparative advantage and operating environment in Ukraine. This is a role that combines strategy, program design and development, and coalition and relationship building. 

 

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Contribute to efforts to build national and local public sector capacity 

  • Map, monitor, and develop local youth networks 

  • Support COP in coordinating and leveraging efforts of related donor and implementer programs 

  • Design, oversee, or execute as needed, the organization of strategic events in Ukraine in coordination with the Strategic Communications Unit. 

  • Continually assess national and regional markets for partnership and business opportunities and help prepare plans to capture them. 

  • Identify markets, donors, and partners that are responsive to the objectives of the program, map out a strategy for engaging with or accessing them, and execute that strategy. 

  • Contribute to UNITY research and learning, in particular insights on private sector and local governance in target regions of UNITY operation for the applied political economy analyses 

  • Promote IREX’s participation and represent IREX in conferences and industry functions, identify/facilitate speaking opportunities for self or other IREX experts 

  • Identify potential local resources to provide in-kind and other forms of cost-share for UNITY activities across all objectives 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ukrainian citizenship or residency with work authorization is required. 

  • Minimum of five years of management experience in strategic partnerships, experience in partnership management for an international NGO is a plus; experience working on programs focused on youth, education, and/or employment/entrepreneurship preferred. 

  • A master’s degree in business administration, public policy, sociology, international affairs, education, or a related field; bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years of relevant experience also considered.  

  • Demonstrated extensive network of international and local public and private sector representatives. 

  • Ability to think and plan strategically in the context of broad organizational goals. 

  • Superb organizational and communications skills, particularly public speaking. 

  • Ability to translate strategy and shape complex, innovative ideas into concrete initiatives with the people, revenue, and partners necessary to achieve results. 

  • Demonstrated skills in solving problems in fast-paced environments, including development of strong coalitions and creative models of revenue generation. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously under tight deadlines. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating a learning environment within a program. 

  • Strong command of English, Ukrainian, and Russian.
