Location:Kyiv, Ukraine

World Council of Credit Unions seeksa Communications Officer for the Credit forAgriculture Producers (CAP) Project in Ukraine, funded by the United States Agency forInternational Development (USAID), to work under the Communications & Translation Lead’ssupervision and be engaged in creating Project communication and promotional materials,maintaining Project social media content, coordinating office activities, facilitating internaloperations, and managing information, as well as editing, writing, and proofreading Projectmaterials and ensuring accurate internal translation and interpretation for the in-house team(English <-> Ukrainian).

The ideal candidate should have strong writing and speaking skills in English and Ukrainian, beable to prepare agendas and meeting notes, write social media posts and letters, as well assupport office work and project media coverage. He or she should be an excellent communicatorwith strong attention to detail.

 

About the Project:

CAP seeks to revitalize the credit union sector in Ukraine by creating a more transparent legaland regulatory framework for credit union operations in Ukraine to both promote growth andreduce risks, while improving access to agricultural finance for agricultural and rural micro,small, and medium enterprises through credit unions. Specifically, the project is expected to: (1)strengthen credit union regulator and national associations capacity; (2) advocate for animproved and updated legislative framework to meet European Union (EU) standards, enablingcredit unions to compete with other financial institutions; and (3) address constraints preventingcredit unions from expanding outreach and delivering high-quality lending to the agriculturalsector.

 

Duties:

The Communications Officer will report directly to and closely collaborate with the Communications & Translation Lead in performing the Project’s communication and translation tasks as required and in line with the Project’s goals and annual implementation plans. Specific duties are as follows:

Communications-related

  • Assist in the development and execution of Project Communication Plan;
  • Develop social media posts, press releases, success stories, public event materials, etc. inboth English and Ukrainian and in line with USAID and WOCCU standards (includinghelp adjusting foreign materials to Ukrainian context);
  • Help develop and maintain the Project’s web and social media content(including takingphotos at meetings/events, creating and editing videos);
  • Ensure the Project’s deliverables, publications, and communications adhere to the USAID
  • Branding and Marking Guidelines;
  • Utilize multiple forms of media outreach to maintain Project presence, track Project mediaexposure, as well as update and maintain databases;
  • Help in researching, writing, and editing content for distribution, including photos andvideos; and
  • Help the team develop public relations and promotional materials.

Translation-related & General

  • Offer translation and interpretation support to the in-house team (English <-> Ukrainian/Russian) at internal meetings.
  • Translate or proofread written materials prepared by other Project employees both in English and Ukrainian.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering calls, preparing presentations, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, and so on.
  • Maintain calendars, schedules and appointments, as well as write agendas and minutes.
  • Ensure smooth communication with Project partners.
  • Frequent trips to rural often remote areas in Ukraine are assumed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Philology, Linguistics or a related field.
  • Native Ukrainian/Russian fluency, both written and spoken.
  • Minimum of proven Upper-Intermediate written and spoken English.
  • Previous work experience as a Communications Assistant, Communication Specialist or similar role preferable.
  • Previous experience working on USAID-funded project and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations is a plus.
  • Conversant with MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of design software and content management systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using various social media platforms and knowledge of SMM.
  • Strong editing and researching skills.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Strong organization skills and detail-oriented.
