Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) Team Lead

DAI GLOBAL, LLC, implementer of USAID-funded Financial Sector Transformation Project (FST)  is seeking qualified candidates for the Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) Team Lead position.

 

 The successful candidate will direct FST’s activity in support of increasing access to small and medium size businesses. He/She will work collaboratively with other senior FST component leads (consumer lending and protection, legal and regulatory reform, IT policy, digital finance, capital and commodity markets) to develop a more competitive financial sector. He/She will assume the lead role in advancing FST’s productive relationship with the leasing sector, in particular the existing activities with the Ukrainian Union of Lessors (UUL). He/She will also be responsible for analysis of the NBFI sector generally (trends, legislation, constraints, financial intermediaries) and monitoring developments in the sector and reporting on them.

 Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the status of the NBFI sector (finance companies, credit unions, insurance and leasing companies, “payday” lenders, microfinance institutions) and analyzing the constraints to expanding financial intermediation;

  • Providing input on legal and regulatory issues affecting financial intermediation by NBFIs;

  • Examining issues of policy and taxation that impact NBFIs, specifically with regard to leasing;

  • Supervising and managing the reports/activities of sub-contractors;

  • Contributing to the selection of grantees, and monitoring  their performance under the grant award;

  • Reporting quarterly on project activities

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree in economics, law, business or related field preferred;
  • 10 + years’ experience in the NBFI sector, with five years of management responsibility required;
  • Strong analytical skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills;
  • Good command of English, both oral and written, and fluent Ukrainian required;
  • Familiarity with donor assistance programs preferred.

Reporting:

The NBFI Team Lead will report to the FST Deputy Chief of Party.
