Internews Network seeks Ukrainian candidates for Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for its U-Media Project. Project goals are to strengthen Ukrainian media, increase the quality of information that Ukrainian residents receive, bring Ukrainian media law to European standards and build the capacity of media organizations that work to achieve these goals. The DCOP manages and guides a team of program officers and managers in Kyiv and Simferopol in designing programs, selecting grantees and identifying needs and priorities for improving content and journalism standards and the capacity of media organizations. S/he is expected to advise media support organizations and journalists, bringing experience and best global practices in media development, new media, media literacy and training programs.
Qualifications: At least 7 years experience in journalism, journalism training and/or managing media-development projects. Previous work experience with donor programs and projects, especially with USAID. Proven ability to mentor and build skills of staff. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, tact and the ability to negotiate. Excellent communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening, in Ukrainian, Russian and English. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively and to work both independently and as an effective team member and leader. Analytical, strategic and problem-solving ability. Computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and e-mail skills required.
