Salary:Gross from USD 7.60/hour (LE-04), USD 8.61/hour (LE-05), or USD 10.19/hour (LE-06) paid in fortnightly instalments in UAH equivalent

Vacancy type:Emergency employment

Term Details:This position is a subject to the Conditions of Emergency Employment for LES (Locally Engaged Staff) in Ukraine. This competition will be used to create a pool of eligible candidates to fill various short-term vacancies on an on-call basis (emergency employment) at the various assistant levels (LE-04 to LE-06) at the Embassy of Canada in Kyiv.

Summary of position:Under the direction of the Management and Consular Officer (MCO) or other Program Manager, the Emergency Employee will be responsible for:

meeting unforeseen, exceptional and immediate operational requirements;

providing administrative support services;

receiving calls and communicating with clients;

undertaking basic office work, such as scanning, photocopying, shredding, updating the contacts database, and sending mail;

performing other related duties, as required.

Essential qualifications:Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application letter how they meet these essential requirements by drawing on examples from their work experience.

 

Good working level of written and spoken English, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Native fluency in Ukrainian and Russian (reading, writing and speaking).

Relevant administrative support experience in a small to medium sized office, including use of Microsoft Office.

An acceptable combination of education, training and work experience to meet the abilities/competences.

Abilities/Competencies:

Initiative, flexibility (work on-call basis) and ability to meet deadlines.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills and sound judgement.

Ability to work independently as part of a small team, maintain good working relations with other staff, and contribute to the achievement of team priorities.

Commitment to a high standard of professional integrity, discretion and ethical behaviour.

Asset Qualifications:• Experience working for a government agency, diplomatic mission or international organization.

Proficiency in French.

Condition(s) of Employment:• Candidates must have a valid work authorisation covering the entire employment period. Proof of the right to work in Ukraine and copies of educational qualifications may be required at the interview stage.

Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in Ukraine.

Any job offer will be subject to reliability security screening, including criminal record and credit checks.

Candidates have to provide at least two references from previous or current employers.

The Embassy of Canada in Ukraine does not reimburse any travel costs to attend interviews/exams nor does it reimburse any relocation costs.

Candidates requiring any special assistance in attending exams or interviews are requested to inform us in advance.

The results of this recruitment process may be used to establish an eligibility list of qualified candidates for similar openings at the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine which might arise in the 12 months following the completion of this recruitment process.
