DRC-DDG is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. From the Slovyansk Sub-Office, DRC-DDG carries out a variety of activities to support conflict affected and internally displaced people in Donetsk oblast and Luhansk oblast including restoration of shelter, livelihoods and business grants, legal assistance, child protection and psycho-social support and humanitarian mine action. 

DRC-DDG Protection Program is currently focusing on child protection (covering mine victim assistance and psycho-social support) and community based protection, and is seeking to recruit qualified staff to support Protection activities in this field. 

ABOUT THE JOB

The Protection Assistant (Case worker) is part of the DRC-DDG Protection Team in Mariupol and works under the management, guidance and supervision of DRC-DDG Protection Team Leader and Protection Manager. The Protection Assistant supports the national Protection Team Leader and Protection Manager in timely and quality implementation of protection activities in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. This position is based in Mariupol with frequent travel to field locations.

The Protection Assistant, in coordination and cooperation with the programme staff, is expected to pursue the following objectives in his/her daily work: 

Implementation of protection activities

• Implement of all protection activities, including but not limited to case management, needs assessment, psycho-social support, assistance to conflict-affected population – individuals and community.
• Manage individual cases, provide advice and guidance as well as referrals to mine victims including their families on issues related to accessing required services.
• Contribute to the design of clear weekly and monthly plans for the implementation of all protection activities.
• Support in organisation and delivery of training in psychosocial support for conflict affected population, and trainings on inclusion for children and adults.
• Contribute to the process of developing tools, guidelines and SOPs relevant for protection work.
• Regular monitoring of all project activities. 

Training and capacity building

• Support Protection Team Leader and Protection Manager in activities related to the implementation of training activities with a focus on psychosocial support and inclusion, including documentation, procurement and logistical arrangements.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and tools.
• Assist in training for government and NGO stakeholders, social workers, and conflict-affected population - for adults and children.
• Contribute to development of information leaflets, brochures for awareness raising activities.

Internal/External Coordination and Representation

• Establish and maintain coordination with local authorities, local and international NGOs when/if required;
• Represent projects in relevant coordination meetings when requested. 

Reporting & Accountability

• Collect and maintain project data ensuring the highest standards of data protection and confidentiality. Insert the collected information into the database when needed;
• Contribute to drafting reports, analyses of statistical data and proposal writing;
• Produce high quality and timely reports for DRC and donors within agreed deadlines;
• Comply with all relevant DRC policies and procedures, particularly with respect to child protection, the code of conduct, and security.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate degree in social work, law, psychology or equivalent or at least 2 years of working experience in social work, psychosocial support programmes, supporting vulnerable groups of populations  as part of local or international organisations;
• Strong facilitation skills and experience designing and delivering training to various audience, preferably with a focus on psychosocial support or human rights;
• Good writing and analytical skills;
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude and resilience;
• Fluency in Russian and good command of English – both oral and written. 

WE OFFER

Contract length: 5 months with possible extension (3 months is a probation period).

Start date: as soon as possible .

Salary grade: “I3”.
