Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Livelihoods Officer for a 5-year USAID funded comprehensive livelihoods project that aims to improve the overall economic resilience of eastern Ukraine. The position is based in Slovyansk.
About the job
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. In Ukraine DRC operates since 2007. From 2015 on, DRC has successfully implemented livelihoods programmes aimed to provide IDPs and conflict-affected populations with income-earning opportunities, thus strengthening their resilience and reducing their dependence on traditional humanitarian aid.
The role of Livelihoods Officer is central to few activities of USAID funded project. Namely, LLH Officer will serve as a development representative between the project and external parties such as local NGOs, that that serve vulnerable population communities of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, and public educational institutions, e.g. technical schools, colleges, etc. The LLH Officer will be responsible for co-designing, together with LLH Team Leader and LLH Programme Manager, and coordinating activities with partner local NGOs, as well controlling their performance on a regular basis. The LLH Officer will be working closely with technical schools and other educational institutions which apply for grants and support them alongside the selection process. Additionally, you will be directly involved in grant implementation process as to overseeing its successful implementation.

To be successful in this role we expect you to have experience in grant making programmes in the field of technical assistance, especially focusing on collaborating with NGO sector and assisting educational institutions through various programmes. The candidate shall be passionate about helping people and communities to improve their lives. You should also be endowed with virtues of honesty and responsibility. Great communication skills are essential. All employees should master DRC’s core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates; please refer to drc.ngo under Vacancies. Position contingent upon expected funding.
