The Social Media and Outreach Specialist’s role is to work together with the Director of Communications on tasks related to the Project’s activities in a number of internet platforms, including social networks. He/she will perform a range of tasks including, but not limited to development and administration of the Project Facebook page, coordination of creation and, if necessary, administration of the Project web site. The Social Media Specialist will be fully familiar with USAID branding policy; and a wide range of issues that may be raised in a variety of internet resources and platforms to be able to properly respond to questions and concerns, and to relay such concerns back to the Project’s team with sufficient understanding what effective remedies can be developed, if necessary. The Social Media Specialist will deliver tasks and milestones per the guidance of Communications Director.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Develops and implements the USAID Economic Resilience Activity (USAID ERA/Activity) Social Media strategy in order to increase the Project online presence and build the audience of followers. Creates pages of the USAID ERA in social networks. At the initial stage –primarily Facebook, on later stages (if needed) – on Twitter and the account in LinkedIn social network;
  • Prepares and develops social media content to support and enhance the Activity’s interventions, operations and promotion of outreach materials in Social Media. Works with graphic designer in developing visual content (illustrations for posts, creating infographics, photo processing, if needed, etc.);
  • Monitors, posts to, and analyzes social media channels to build a community of followers and enhance interaction.
  • Administrates the Activity’s page on a daily basis. The USAID ERA main page will detail its activities, will contain all Project news, photo or video reports of the events, success stories, etc. The page will contain a wide range of information that will promote the achievement of the SME and entrepreneurship in the east of Ukraine, promote the activities of the USAID ERA, as well as provide the main news, legislative changes, other info, useful for targeted audiences;
  • Creates/participates in Facebook groups that will stimulate target audiences to express their needs, concerns and achievements;
  • Assists with creation of technical tasks for audio/video PSAs, other products;
  • Assists with development of information materials - success stories, articles, longreads, brochures and posters, etc;
  • Assists with organizations of public outreach events;
  • Participates in trainings for journalists, local business, representatives of municipalities, etc., if they will require skills in how to use social networks for business purposes or promotion of a certain topic/product, etc;
  • Assists with the development of the USAID ERA web site. Develops suggestions on menu and structure, thematic blocks of the site, special projects sections, etc. If necessary – coordinates the site creation process with developers, and administrates it after the launch.
  • Prepares reports on USAID ERA’s activities in social networks (on monthly basis or upon request): coverage and engagement statistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strongly preferred bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, literature or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in PR and SMM strategies development; writing and publication of articles, interviews, blogs and long-reads about the company’s activities;
  • Management of pages in social media (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn);
  • Demonstrated experience in developing content for social media platforms.
  • Experience with communications product development, and knowledge management for USAID or other international donor-funded programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private‐sector partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, graphic arts and/or desktop publishing software a plus.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and reading skills in Ukrainian, Russian and English
