The Lawyer/Hotline operator will run the work of the UNHCR-based hotline aimed for greater Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) as well as serve as a referral persons at R2P legal protection hotline.
Introduction
The Right to Protection (R2P), a charitable fund that strives for Ukraine to become a country where refugees, stateless, non-citizens and displaced persons enjoy dignity and protection, continues the Advocacy, Protection and Legal Aid Programme funded by UNHCR to be implemented in 2017.
The Programme is aimed to strengthen the protective environment for internally displaced persons and other affected populations through directly responding to their needs at community and individual levels as well as developing civil society capacities to identify and implement durable, long-term solutions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Lawyer/Hotline operator, under the coordination of the Protection and Legal Aid Coordinators, will run the work of the UNHCR-based hotline aimed for greater Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) as well as serve as a referral persons at R2P legal protection hotline.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide quality telephone counselling
Provide accurate, up-to-date information to callers on the hotline objectives
Collect accurate data about calls and callers
Refer callers to appropriate resources
Provide counselling on essential legal issues in accordance with instructions developed by Legal unit
Write monthly reports on the hotline progress and summarize statistics
Make recommendations for changes to improve the service
Deal with ad hoc situations within team or hotline
Assist coordinators of protection and legal aid units on writing monthly analytical reports and compiling hotline statistics
Research new information relevant to hotline
Develop and maintain hotline related documents and databases
Required qualifications
Education at law or other relevant background;
Experience in counselling in humanitarian, legal, social or other relevant sphere;
Record of work at hotlines is an asset;
Fluent in Ukrainian and Russian; English is an asset;
Good communication skills;
Ability to manage/communicate with people under stress;
Computer literate and a meticulous record keeper;
Maintain high ethical standards and treat people with respect and dignity;
Motivated to learning and improving skills.
We offer
R2P will offer the successful applicant a 4-month contract, renewable dependent on funding and performance.
