Ukraine NGO Forum is a membership organization that came into existence in the autumn of 2014, as a joint coordination, information sharing, advocacy and capacity building platform that encompass international as well as national NGO’s. While initially created as a primarily humanitarian platform, the NGO Forum is increasingly focusing on development activities.

POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION

Position: NGO Strategy Development Consultant  (multiple positions)

Based in Kyiv with field trips to Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya and Dnipro oblasts

Duration: the experts will be required to conduct strategic sessions for NGOs identified by Ukraine NGO Forum and provide ongoing mentorship support in developing strategies and recommendations until the end of the project. Contract duration will be agreed individually and depend on number of NGOs that will be supported by each expert.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES / SCOPE OF WORK

Within “Transitional Mentorship Program” organized by Ukraine NGO Forum, strategy development experts are expected to provide mentorship support several national NGOs that seek for assistance in development of strategies and recommendations during transition period from humanitarian phase to recovery and development. The experts will facilitate 1-3 day strategic sessions aimed at developing mission, vision, common values and strategic plans for each NGO, provide recommendations regarding this matter as well give relevant feedback to NGOs.

It is envisioned that strategic sessions will take place from August till December, 2017. The experts will work closely with the Capacity-building manager and other relevant Ukraine NGO Forum staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES & MAIN TASKS

-          Actively engaging with pre-selected NGO staff, Board members and other stakeholders with participatory processes.

-          Plan and facilitate the 1-3 days strategic session workshops for NGO staff members, board members and other stakeholders to prioritize strategic directions, define mission, vision, core values, organizational goals and objectives for each NGO.

-          Provide ongoing support and recommendations to ensure development of strategic plan, which would define a basis for program activities and work of all NGO staff members.

-          Ensure consolidation of results into a draft and finalized strategic document.

-          Develop a short report indicating main results of the mentorship support for each NGO

 QUALIFICATIONS

-          A degree in a field related to international development, management or organizational development;

-          Knowledge of and/or proven expertise in facilitating strategic planning processes;

-          Experience with working with NGOs/Civil society;

-          Demonstrated expertise relating to strategic planning document preparation;

-          Fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian/Russian and English;

-          Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders;

-          Dedicated to accountability, transparency and efficiency of non-governmental institutions.
