The CPCs are situated in Eastern Ukraine in several locations where all affected community members (with a specific focus on women, adolescents, boys and girls) can access a variety of information and types of assistance, including:
UNICEF Ukraine has also organized 9 mobile teams to ensure that psychosocial services are provided to communities remaining near the contact line or in IDP hosting areas.
The purpose of this contract is to raise the profile of the UNICEF-supported Community Protection Centres in Eastern Ukraine, to showcase the work of UNICEF and the involved Ukrainian NGOs and to highlight the needs and concerns of people affected by the conflict especially those in the grey zone near the contact line in the Donetsk oblast.
To achieve this, a national consultant will be contracted to tap into existing social media network (mainly vKontakte and Facebook) to communicate the work and the benefits of the UNICEF programmes and to identify possible thematic and geographic gaps. The consultant will post relevant information, engage in two-way communication and will gather suggestions from the communities to improve the UNICEF services to the communities. Social media play an important role in the flow of information in Ukraine and especially in the five oblasts of eastern Ukraine.
This consultancy will significantly increase the UNICEF communication outreach by directly targeting more than 500,000 IDPs and other people affected by the conflict who are already active in social media. The potential reach through “sarafanoe radio” (“heard through the grapevines”) is even higher, since recent experience from Ukraine shows that social media users function as multipliers and supply other citizens who are not active Internet users with important information.
