Chemonics International, an international development consulting firm, implementing USAID’s Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI) Project, solicits expressions of interest for the position of Information and Database Manager (IDM).
USAID’s Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI) complements ongoing USAID efforts to create a prosperous and stable Ukraine. The program provides fast, flexible, short-term assistance to Ukrainian partners in support of a successful, peaceful democratic transition and in promotion of community cohesion in the wake of the conflict in the East.
The program’s overarching objectives are to:
- Increase capacity of vulnerable local communities to manage tensions exacerbated by the conflict in the East;
- Increase constructive engagement between government and citizens in vulnerable communities and;
- Increase citizen resilience against divisive and biased information.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Information and Database Manager (IDM) is responsible for all information management and communication-related functions under UCBI with a focus on promoting and documenting the achievements of UCBI project. This will be accomplished through the development and support of various information activities, including maintenance of the project’s activity web-based database; performing aspects of monitoring and evaluation of grantees’ activities; preparation of internal and external communication products, such as press statements and success stories; quality assurance of information materials produced by project partners; coordination of public events related to program activities; and involvement in the preparation of all project-related reports. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Maintenance and quality assurance of UCBI’s activity web-based database, which serves as a main online tool for project operations. This will include management of the whole activity cycle in the database from its creation, uploading of the program information and documents, to closure.
- Lead the drafting of all project-related reports (weekly, monthly, semi-annual).
- Prepare monthly calendar of critical events. This requires close communication with project partners and includes the maintenance and update of the UCBI working calendar and incorporation of data into reporting products as relevant.
- Perform media monitoring by gathering highlights of UCBI activities in media outlets.
- Manage UCBI Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/USAIDUCBI.
- Ensure quality of all information materials produced by project partners with UCBI support. This includes provision of initial content review, proper branding and marking and further submission for non-partisan review to project management as per the established guidance.
- Manage program concept tracker and capture minutes/notes of program related meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
- University degree in PR, Information Management, International Development, Political Science, International Relations, Administration or other related field is required.
- At least (2) two years of experience in information management for an international NGO or donor-funded project required, USAID-funded projects preferred.
- Fluent Ukrainian and Russian required and fluent English speaking and strong English writing skills strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively use computer databases and software including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Will be expected to quickly learn how to use the web-based OTI Activity Database.
- Quick learner who can work independently under minimal supervision and work closely with other staff members, partners, and OTI to meet reporting requirements and compile necessary information gathered from a variety of sources in a timely fashion.
- Experience with and knowledge of local and international NGOs and community-based organizations implementing relevant activities and programs in Ukraine.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout eastern Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and liberated cities in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as needed and as the security situation permits.
