The Internship Program of German Business for Ukraine offers students the unique opportunity of gathering practical experience in companies in Germany for several months. Thus, they enrich their studies with practical knowledge, are able to find their professional bearings better, extend their qualifications and set milestones for their career.

Upon the return of the interns, the experience gathered is to be used to further the economic development and to strengthen the economic cooperation between Germany and Ukraine. The program, reaching across whole Ukraine, contributes to creating a cross-sectoral network of young, cosmopolitan professionals that will contribute to sustainable business ties.

Internships

There is no standardized internship in Germany. The tasks during the internship are just as varied as the companies are different. However, all interns may expect to be integrated into teams and to be given more and more independent assignments.

Benefits

The interns receive a monthly allowance that is financed from the funds of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) (550,00€). The participating German companies make available both the required management capacities as well as the internship placements. Furthermore, the companies cover the cost of accommodation and health insurance for the interns.

Prior to the internship, there is a joint introductory programme held in Berlin with the aim of bringing together the interns with the relevant stakeholders in politics and industry, thus preparing them for their stay in Germany.

The application procedure

Who can apply?

Students of higher semesters (at least 2 finished years of study) as well as young graduates are eligible to apply. Graduates must have finished their last examination at 1 August 2014 or later. Their field of studies should have a focus either on business, engineering/IT, journalism or agriculture. The applicants should generally not be older than 30 years.

A very good command of German and / or English is required. The internships last 3 – 5 months and will start on 1 February 2017. Students from Ukraine holding a Ukrainian citizenship and which are enrolled or obtained there last degree at an Ukrainian university are eligible to apply.

Step 1: Online application

Please find the online application form at the bottom of this page between 11 April – 6 June 2016. Please mind that the application must be in English or German and that o n l y online application will be accepted.

The Overview (Downloads/ Industries) shows which areas of study are required for applying for internships in certain industries.

Before you fill in the online application, you should prepare the following documents:

1. pdf-document no. 1 should contain

• A Letter of Motivation (1-2 max. pages in German or English) and aCurriculum Vitae including a photo (in German or English – .pdf-file)

2. pdf-document no. 2

• a scanned transcript of records (overview of the courses and marks, issued by your faculty)
• translation of transcript of records (German or English translation, there is no official translation required for the online application stage)
• other scanned documents available (e.g. language certificates for German or English, references, diplomas)

You may upload the documents in Word, PDF or graphics formats. The documents need not be zipped. Please note, that your CV-document shall be one separate .pdf-file. Please, emerge all other documents on one file during the process of uploading your application. You may receive more hints on that during the online application process.
