Chemonics International, an international development consulting firm, implementing USAID’s Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI) Project, solicits expressions of interest for short-term field program assistants (FPA).
Purpose of Assignment
A short-term field program assistant (FPA) will lead UCBI reporting on the local political, civic, and economic environment and assist with activity monitoring in GOU-controlled territory of Luhansk oblast. It is envisioned that this will be a three (3)-month assignment with possibility for extension.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Report on socio-political context and assist UCBI to assess the local situation to understand activity opportunities per program objectives and clusters.
- Monitor activities which may include: attending activity events, gathering information requested by fellow UCBI staff, writing updates and brief reports on grant impact and progress, attend coordination meetings for grant activities.
- Report on relevant donor assistance, community, or regional meetings and the local political, civic, economic environment.
- Conduct meetings with local civil society organizations, media, and government representatives to learn about their plans, activities, and grant concepts that the PDO can develop further.
- Maintain and share a contact list of local organizations relevant to UCBI’s focus areas.
- Provide oral and written translations to and from English as required.
- Regular travel throughout GOU-controlled territory of Luhansk oblast and occasional travel to other regions of Ukraine, including to Kharkiv and Kyiv.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must reside within Luhansk oblast and be thoroughly familiar with the socio-political situation in the oblast.
- Knowledgeable of and capable of working within local communities and with local government stakeholders.
- Prior experience working with NGOs and/or local communities and/or youth groups preferred.
- Native fluency in Russian/Ukrainian required; professional functionality in English highly desirable.
- University degree required.
