Field & MEAL-Coordinator for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Projects

in Mykolaiv, Ukraine

(full time position/part time possible minimum 80%)

AWO International has been involved in Ukraine since Russia’s war against Ukraine in February 2022, which violated international law. Together with our Ukrainian partner organisations, we support the population affected by the war. Our programme priorities in Ukraine are emergency relief and rehabilitation with a focus on renovation of buildings, winterisation activities and promoting access to basic social, health and educational services as well as MHPSS. Furthermore, we strengthen Ukrainian civil society and promote gender equality, inclusion and environmental protection. 

Your tasks 

  • Advise Ukrainian partner organisations and support the implementation of the relief and rehabilitation projects according to local stakeholders’ needs and donor requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress and results against the logframes  
  • Ensure donor’s compliance for Gender, Age and Disability (GAD)
  • Ensure proper budget utilisation, controlling and timely expenditure of funds
  • Participate in the consortium’s coordination meetings
  • Coordination with relevant stakeholders in the South of Ukraine
  • Assist Country Office to select new partner organisations in Ukraine
  • Conduct needs assessment and collect data in the field
  • Contribute to proposal writing and budgeting in close collaboration with partner organisations
  • Support Country Office in preparing donor reports
  • Assist Country Office to plan and prepare visits to project locations and potential partners
  • Establish and manage an office space in Mykolaiv
  • Implement AWO International security procedures
  • Arrange/contribute to capacity development activities for partner organisations
  • Contribute to AWO International and donors requests for public relations and fund raising
  • Any other task assigned by the AWO International Country Office.

Your profile 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a programmatic coordination position in the humanitarian assistance and/or development cooperation context in Ukraine
  • Proven experience in working with Ukraine Non-Governmental Organisations
  • Track record in working with donors in Ukraine, experience with German donors is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of / proven working experience in result-based project management, monitoring & evaluation, financial controlling and logistics/procurement
  • Solid expertise in the field of gender equality, MHPSS, inclusion and environmental protection
  • Fluency in Ukraine and English both written and verbal
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
  • Readiness for regular field missions
  • Contribution to safety and security protocols
  • Valid car driving licence
