The project goal: to provide a wide range of Ukrainian CSOs with access to timely and accurate information on the status and needs of communities and vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in Donbas region, through using the portal GURT, the biggest information network of the Ukrainian CSOs.
Project financing: Media Development Fund, Embassy of the United States in Ukraine
Tasks within the project:
- 1) To build a network of at least 30 civil journalists in five eastern Ukraine oblasts, namely Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv, and to teach the selected candidates about professional standards of covering social issues in the media,
- 2) To prepare 540 text and 270 audio materials highlighting the status and needs of communities and vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in Donbas region,
- 3) To share experience acquired within a project implementation, through distributing collected content among at least 2,000,000 users, including journalists of Ukrainian regional media.
Activities within the project:
- 1) Creating a separate category on the portal GURT for Special Media Project highlighting the status and needs of communities and vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in Donbas region,
- 2) Conducting fortnightly webinars for 30 selected civil journalists from five eastern Ukraine oblsasts,
- 3) Holding three 2-day workshops for civil journalists participating in the project,
- 4) Developing online tool for civil journalists on how to create and distribute high-quality socially useful information,
- 5) Running a project promotion campaign to demonstrate the project results and the contribution of vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in the Donbass to the development of host communities in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv oblasts. The promotion campaign will involve at least 1,000,000 people and includes: production and distribution of viral video in social media, planning and distributing a series of electronic banners for social networks and friendly online platforms; organizing 5 public street events; holding a final press-conference.
Project results
Short-term results:
- - The network of 30 civil journalists in five eastern Ukraine oblasts, who obtained knowledge on professional standards of covering social issues in the media, has been created,
- - 540 text and 270 audio materials have been prepared, highlighting the status and needs of communities and vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in Donbas region,
- - The online tool for civil journalists on how to create and distribute high-quality socially useful information has been developed and brought to attention of at least 10 000 active citizens,
- - The promo campaign, that engaged at least 1,000,000 people, has been performed to demonstrate the project results and the contribution of vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in the Donbass to the development of host communities in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv oblasts,
- - 5 street actions, attended by 1500 citizens, have been held in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv oblasts,
- - 2,000,000 users have were informed with content collected during project implementation.
