Міжнародна літня школа
17.04.2019

Аспіпантів та науквоців запрошують до участі у міжнародній літній школі.

Jointly with NGO ‘Promotion of Intercultural Cooperation’ and Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Quadrivium is launching a call for applications for citizens of Ukraine for an international summer school entitled ‘Explaining the EU’s actorness and its role in the Eastern neighbourhood of the EU’.

The school will be held June 10-16, 2019 in Chisinau, Moldova and is organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project ENACTED (European Union and its neighbourhood. Network for enhancing EU’s actorness in the eastern borderlands 2017-2625).

Target groups: PhD students and post-doc researchers (maximum 4 years after PhD thesis defend).

Main objective: To offer an in-depth analysis of the EU’s external role and its impact over the wider eastern neighbourhood area in an altered context marked by the Ukrainian crisis and the existing tensions with Russia.

Rationale: The summer school will allow PhD students and post-doc researchers to acquire specific knowledge on the EU’s actorness in its eastern neighbourhood and will help them develop critical and analytical skills in order to understand the new challenges the EU faces under the current backdrop marked by the Ukrainian crisis and the intense tensions between the Euro-Atlantic community and Russia. As such, the topic of the summer school has emerged as one of the most relevant issues within the European Studies field, particularly because since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis the EU’s political frameworks in the region have been constantly challenged. Hence, the EU-EaP relation has lately received increased media attention and, subsequently, has been endorsed by several books and journal articles. Besides offering knowledge about the factors that shape the EU’s actions in the EaP region, the summer school will also have a strong methodological component. Since the research methodology applied in European Studies is not sufficiently explored in the neighbouring countries, attendees at the summer school will also learn new qualitative and quantitative methods, improve their presentation and writing skills.

Willing participants from Ukraine should submit, until May 12, to the email address [email protected] the following:

  • CV Europass;
  • A Cover Letter (500-1000 characters), connecting the individual research interests/results with the Summer School topics and objectives.

Travel and subsistence: The organizers bear the cost of accommodation and meals during the summer school (7 days). Travel costs are not covered by the project.

Participation fees: None

Certification: Participants will receive at the end of the programme a certificate of attendance. Interested participants will also have the possibility to obtain, upon completion, 7 ECTS credits provided they submit a paper on a school topic no later than one month after the end of the summer school. A selection of the best papers will be published in the CSIE Working Papers (WP) (https://csei.ase.md/wp/)
