English Teaching Resource Center invites English language teachers as well as all interested to a second workshop in the series of teacher training workshops on Task-Based Language Teaching, conducted by Oleksandr Moskalenko.

PRESENTER: Oleksandr Moskalenko is an English Language instructor with 30 years’ experience of teaching all levels of General English from Beginner to Advanced, Cambridge Exam preparation classes as well as Business English and Legal English and writing. In 2000 he set up his private language center and for the last 15 years he has been self-employed teaching adult professionals at local and multinational companies in Ukraine and abroad. He is an author of a book “How to learn English”, many articles on methods of teaching and learning the language and a writer of numerous tailor-made programs in Business skills and Legal English and writing.

Workshop description:

The purpose of this workshop is to show how to stimulate real communication in the classroom by incorporating tasks used in Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) into a traditional methodological framework.

The workshop will include the overview of task types and illustrate a range of materials tasks can be based on. It will also illustrate some basic ways to design communicative tasks based on reading or listening texts or video extracts. Participants will, through interactive simulation, practice to adapt or to supplement a traditional lesson outline to include tasks. They will also be able to try their outlines out on “groups of students” to see how this maximizes student spoken interaction and increases motivation.

The workshop is the second one in the series of workshops on Task-based Language Teaching. Its participants are expected to be acquainted with the TBLT framework and its constituent parts. Therefore, if you didn’t attend the first workshop, you will need to read through the trainer’s notes that are attached to this announcement.

Each participant will get a copy of Oleksandr Moskalenko’s brochure “Как все-таки выучить английский” as a gift in the end of the workshop.
