19 вересня у Музеї совєтської окупації відбудеться зустріч на тему: Примирення після конфлікту. Як це працює в демократії? (Частина I) і Громадянське суспільство Об'єднання регіонів Балтійського і Чорного моря Виклики та можливості (частина II) (далі - англ.).

We would like to establish a meeting point of the Swedish Institute Alumni, students, young experts, professionals - for all sorts of formally informal purposes.

The event will consist of both presentations and discussions for the purpose of networking and contact making with informal spirit!

Europe has a long history of inter-state and inter-ethnic conflicts. It is often possible to reactivate these and even create new ones from scratch, as shown by Russia´s expansionism. Reconciliation and conflict resolution are crucial for reconstruction and (re)establishment of democratic rule and functionable state. Traumatic experiences, contested regions as places of memory, etc. Can consolidate the feelings of identity but is also any reconciliation possible in the end? What´s the role of democracy in it?

Besides, during the meeting we seek to compare Civil Society in terms of structures, processes, state policies as well as concrete NGOs projects in perspective. A key dimension of political activity of young people is their commitment to the ongoing participation in civil society organizations - CSOs, which themselves are seen as conduits between the governed and the governors. Civil society organizations are important channels of political participation in terms of “giving voice”, in providing a link between authorities and young population – future and current electorate.

This is a second part of the series of seminars, taking place this time in Kyiv. The first part was carried out inRiga with Swedish Embassy´s representation. The third part will take place at the Warsaw University, Poland later this year.
