Children at social risk (who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it) are often faced with emotional and socialization problems and have difficulties at school. Teachers, (foster)parents and support specialists in education lack the knowledge, tools and skills for working with them.

The upcoming conference „Quality Education for Children at Social Risk“ aims at providing a platform for different countries and sectors to share, network and collaborate in order to develop solutions in education for these children. The 5-day conference will include plenary presentations with high-level
specialists as well as presentations on EUCB education projects and best practices in countries. The conference includes a one-day study visit to different locations (Haapsalu, Lahemaa, Põltsamaa, Rakvere, Tallinn).

Call for proposals is open now. We are looking for presentations on contemporary theory and best practice in Education by SOS coworkers, your partners in education and other scholars and practicioners from your country.

The registration will be open in December. Visa and other organisational information will be provided with the registration.

DEADLINE for submissions is 16th December 2013.
Proposals will be selected and presenters notified by January 6th 2014.

The conference fee of €150 includes materials, translation, conference transportation and refreshments for 4 days as well as the opening reception. A fee will not be required from SOS Children’s Villages EUCB co-workers and partners of EUCB education projects. Lunch is 5€ per day (4 days) and will be booked during registration and paid by the participants in cash on site.

The cost of the study visit is 30€ and includes transportation, lunch and a guided tour.
