Sida’s Calls for proposals is a way to get in touch with different types of actors, in order to support the best ideas for projects and programmes, within different kind of areas. Now, it is time to apply.
Calls for proposals is a way for Sida to find new interventions to support. Currently two calls for proposals are being launced: ICT for development and democracy and ICT for empowerment of women and girls. The last date for application is 18 October.
The Call for proposal ICT for democratisation and freedom of expression is using funds from the Swedish Special Initiative for Democratisation and Freedom of Expression, launched by the Swedish government in 2009. The initiative aims at supporting actors for change, individuals, groups and civil society organisations working for democratisation and freedom of expression.
The other Call for proposal now open, ICT for empowerment of women and girls, aims at increasing socio-economic equality between women and men by ensuring equal access to technology and equal opportunities to use ICT in an open society. The proposals should be in line with the Strategy for capacity development and collaboration 2011–2013.
The local Sida office at the Embassy of Sweden is not dealing with these two calls for proposals – they are part of the special Swedish Initiative and a specific Swedish government global strategy. They are handled centrally with the applications submitted electronically for the selection. There are the guidelines provided on the Sida central website.
