January 19 was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the U.S., and February is Black History Month.  Come to the ETRC on Tuesday, February 10, or Wednesday, February 11, to learn more about African-American civil rights leader Martin Luther King, the civil rights movement, and related values.  We will explore a variety of innovative activities that you can adapt to your own classroom needs.

Wednesday, February 11from 3:00 – 4:30 Webinar 15.3 “Integrating Pronunciation Across the Curriculum”

Webinar Description:  

While it is natural to incorporate pronunciation activities into oral skills classes, many opportunities exist in reading, writing and grammar courses to introduce and reinforce pronunciation concepts as well.  In this talk, the presenter will introduce 15 content-based pronunciation activities that could be used in a reading, writing or grammar course.  She will give ideas about how these activities could be integrated to help students develop more clear and accurate pronunciation.

Presenter bio:

Char Heitman received her B.A. in TESOL and Spanish and an M.A. in Linguistics with a focus on Applied Linguistics.  She has taught EFL in Japan, Holland and Spain and has been an instructor at the American English Institute at the University of Oregon for eighteen years.  Her professional interests include:  oral skills, pronunciation, course design, alternative assessment, project-based learning, teacher training and cross cultural communication.
