Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and Emergency and Stabilization Programme Coordinator, and the direct supervision of the Community Stabilization Project Specialist, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of IOM Ukraine’s Emergency and Stabilization-related programming portfolio (veterans reintegration, mental health and psychological support, social cohesion, and other thematic areas).  

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 

  1. Assist project specialists in contracting partners, assist in procurement of goods and services and organization of payments for project consultants and Implementing Partners based on the Acts of Acceptance and Interim/Final reports.
  2. Support project specialists in regular reporting (IOM internal, IOM external, UN-related, including 3W and situation reporting), correspondence, publication and presentation materials.
  3. Assist in the logistics and organization of Emergency and Stabilization-related activities and events (meetings, presentations, discussions, visits, etc.).
  4. Provide informal interpretation and written translation (English/Ukrainian, Russian as well) when necessary.
  5. Draft official and unofficial correspondence in English and Ukrainian (Russian if necessary).
  6. Take notes at relevant programme events, summarize information and provide it to the project staff.
  7. Render support to programme visibility as necessary.
  8. Support project specialists in contacting beneficiaries by phone to assess the satisfaction level of the received goods/services under E&S-related projects and/or to conduct further needs assessment.
  9. Undertake duty travel within Ukraine, to areas selected for Emergency and Stabilization programming, on an as-needed basis.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

Education

 

  • High school diploma/certificate or equivalent with at least four years of relevant work experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution (preferably in Human Rights, Law or International Relations/Development) with at least two years of relevant work experience.

 

Experience

 

  • Work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non‐government or government institutions/organization in a multi‐cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience of cooperating with governmental authorities and local communities throughout Ukraine is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the context and the emergency response in Ukraine is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian-development nexus and/or areas related to the IOM mandate will be a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Office package, Google applications, teleconferencing tools; advanced Excel skills will be a strong asset.

 

Languages

 

Fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian is required.
