Chemonics International Inc. is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of Regional Director.
Chemonics seeks a long-term Severodonetsk Regional Director for the Ukraine Democratic Governance East Activity (DG East). DG East aims to strengthen the connection and trust between citizens and their government in Eastern Ukraine and effectively promote civic awareness, social entrepreneurship, citizen engagement, and the benefits of broad integration into the Euro-Atlantic community through more responsive local governance in areas most affected by conflict and divisive influences. Program activities are implemented across four project offices: Kyiv, Kramatorsk, Severodonetsk, and Mariupol. This position is based in Severodonetsk, Ukraine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and operational oversight to regional office staff in the Severodonetsk office;
- Provide input on design of technical activities in Severodonetsk, maintain oversight of their implementation, and coordinate technical activities with leadership and technical experts in other DG East offices;
- Strategically identify Severodonetsk staff capacity gaps and coordinate training/learning opportunities with other DG East offices;
- Develop and maintain strong and positive working relationships with clients and partners, such as USAID, civil society, universities, business associations, and local governments;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of annual work plans and budgets that reflect the priorities of USAID, government counterparts, civil society, and other stakeholders;
- Contribute to and oversee the development of technical and administrative reports, as required by the DG East contract;
- As needs dictate, the Chief of Party may assign ad hoc special tasks and duties to the Regional Director to ensure the overall efficient development of program activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, management consulting, or other relevant field;
- At least 10 years of experience supporting and leading democracy and governance activities;
- Experience overseeing staff and providing mentoring training support for staff professional development;
- Ability to work in a multinational, multicultural environment;
- Ability to build consensus and coordinate with diverse actors, including government, NGOs and civil society organizations, the private sector, and other donors;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and time management;
- Computer literacy: MS windows applications (word processing, excel, spreadsheets, etc.);
- Advanced working proficiency in Russian or Ukrainian and English.
