ABOUT US  
 
In 2014, Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group (DRC/DDG) returned to Ukraine in order to assist those persons who are internally displaced (IDPs) or affected by the conflict in Donbas and implements activities in eastern Ukraine with a head office in Kyiv. DDG is the specialist unit within DRC that is dedicated to humanitarian mine action. DDG established mine action programmes in Ukraine in 2014 and has since been expanding the scale and scope of its intervention to include mine risk education, non-technical survey, manual demining and training/support for national actors.  
 
ABOUT THE JOB  
 
DDG is currently looking for motivated, purposeful, psychologically and emotionally stable employee for the position of Driver to implement Mineclearance activities in Eastern Ukraine on the government-controlled areas in Luhansk and Donetsk oblast. 
 
Main responsibilities 
 
• Responsible for any vehicle he/she is driving, transporting authorized DRC personnel on official duty and cargo to the points of destination. This includes collecting materials from projects and suppliers  
• Pick and drop the assigned users of vehicle  
• Drive safely the passengers, keeping in mind the security of passengers and belongings  
• Assist passengers to load and unload personal or official belongings 
• Fill out the vehicle logbook and ensure passenger signature for every trip  
• Ensure the car is always at minimum half a tank and to refuel when necessary  
• Responsible for the designated vehicles being representative and clean (interior as well as exterior) at all times  
• Perform general check up on the cars (engine oil, brake oil, tire pressure, wiper fluid, radiator fluid, etc.) to make sure the car is road worthy in the morning 
• Ensure all vehicle’s equipment and tools are clean and in place  
• Physical inspection of all DRC-rented vehicles upon request by fleet manager  
• Provide assistance in all procurement and supply requisitions of office and project equipment, supplies, materials, and furniture as tasked by Supervisor  
• Other relevant task given by the supervisor 
• Pick-up or delivery goods to or from the site  
• Implement duties in line with the DRC Code of Conduct and represent DRC in a good way 
• Respect of national driving laws 
 
Moreover,
a)Shall arrive for work on time and wearing the DDG uniform.  
b)Shall fill out the daily driver’s logbook   
c)Shall be responsible for the use of the vehicles.  
d)Shall perform daily maintenance according to the driver’s manual and report any problems to the fleet manager.  
e)Shall ensure that the vehicles are equipped in accordance with the driver’s manual at all times.  
f)Shall ensure the ambulance vehicle at all time to be clean, technically in good condition.  
g)Shall ensure that all passengers have fastened their seat belts while driving if applicable.  
h)Shall not transport unauthorized passengers not related to the DDG programme and/or DDG operations, unless approved by the OM/DS.  
i)Carry out other duties requested by the OM/DS and TL/SL, i.e. painting marking sticks, digging holes and trenches, installing shelter, unloading/uploading equipment, cutting vegetation, filling the sandbags with sand etc.  
j)Respect the speed limits set by DDG (40 km/h in urban areas and 80 km/h outside urban areas), however, never faster than road conditions allow.   
k)Ensure that fuel levels are never less than 1/2, that all vehicles are fitted with one inflated spare tyres and that they are always in proper roadworthy condition.  
l)In case of accident incident to be able to support the medic with the communication from the field to the radio room.

Required experience and competencies
 
• Proven driving experience in a similar position 
• Knowledge of local area  
• Technical expertise in basic vehicle repairs    
• Punctuality and respect for rules and procedures  
• Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality regarding work-related information and data  
• Knowledge of logistics and procurement 
• Fluency in local language
