ABOUT US
In 2014, Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group (DRC/DDG) returned to Ukraine in order to assist those persons who are internally displaced (IDPs) or affected by the conflict in Donbas and implements activities in eastern Ukraine with a head office in Kyiv. DDG is the specialist unit within DRC that is dedicated to humanitarian mine action. DDG established mine action programmes in Ukraine in 2014 and has since been expanding the scale and scope of its intervention to include mine risk education, non-technical survey, manual demining and training/support for national actors.
 
ABOUT THE JOB
 
DDG is currently looking for motivated, purposeful, psychologically and emotionally stable employee for the position of Mine Risk Education Assistant to implement Mine Risk Education activities in Eastern Ukraine on the government-controlled areas in Donetsk Oblast on EECPs. The Risk Education Assistant reports directly to the DDG Supervisor Risk Education. 
 
Main responsibilities 
  • Conduct direct MRE sessions for adults and children according to DDG SOPs, using standard and approved methodologies after initial job-specific training, mostly, on EECPs
  • Record and report MRE beneficiaries numbers according to gender and age, using a standardized reporting template.
  • Collect all necessary details from MRE sessions accurately and completely.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accident hotspots and share information collected in the field with the DDG Supervisor Risk Education in order to inform future deployment plans.
  • Participate in the development of the content and update of materials
  • Act as an ambassador for DRC/DDG, maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of common types of landmines and ordnance.
  • Maintain good working relations within DRC-DDG and other organizations in the area of responsibility
  • Understand, and ensure compliance of the DDG Global SOP 9 on Risk Education
  • Understand, and ensure the observance of the DRC-DDG Code of Conduct
  • Other duties as tasked by DDG Supervisor - Risk Education or Head of Programme.

    ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role we expect you to have strong communication skills and public speaking ability and experience in working with big audience, delivering trainings and facilitating discussions, to be ready for business-trips, to work in the field conditions
Moreover, we also expect the following:
 
Required experience and technical competencies 
  • Previous experience in mine risk education or humanitarian demining is desirable
  • Previous experience working with children and adult audiences in teaching or public speaking capacity
  • Strong understanding of the local context and political environment Full computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to work with the administrative documents
  • Ukrainian (fluent)
  • Russian (fluent)
  • English (Working level of spoken and written English will be strong plus)
  • Diplomatic, patient and persistent.

Salary Level: I 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Ukrainian nationals.
