Database Manager (Kyiv)

Chemonics International Inc. is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of Database Manager.

Chemonics seeks qualified specialists for the USAID Ukraine Democratic Governance East (DG East) Activity. DG East aims to strengthen the connection and trust between citizens and their government in Eastern Ukraine and effectively promote civic awareness, social entrepreneurship, citizen engagement, and the benefits of broad integration into the Euro-Atlantic community through more responsive local governance in areas most affected by conflict and divisive influences. The position will be based in Kyiv.

Responsibilities for this position include:

·        Responsible for the maintenance and quality assurance of data entry in the Activity web-based activity database and for conducting regular uploads of program information and documents (including photographs and videos) to relevant databases/platforms.

·        Responsible for creating and customizing database reports and charts as well as reviewing all database information for accuracy, consistency, and completeness. 

·        Oversee, in collaboration with inputs from Activity leadership and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Coordinators, the selection and/or design and development of the Activity Database to ensure that it suits Activity needs, which include, but are not limited to, MEL data, geospatial data, and internal management and activity approval functions to support DG East’s analytical and reporting capacity.

·        Use the Activity Database as a reporting tool to ensure that the program can respond quickly and efficiently to the needs of USAID/Ukraine by providing reports in the field, compiling appropriate information on program status and impact, and creating any regular reports (weeklies, success stories, maps, charts, graphs, and press releases etc.) or ad hoc communications documents requested by USAID/Ukraine.

·        Maintain and update a calendar of critical events (e.g., political, security) and capture meeting minutes of any political-security information staff meetings and incorporate data into reporting products as relevant.

·        Assist program staff, and grantees and subcontractors, if necessary, with data and analysis for report writing and data storage and management, and ensure reports capture results and impact.

·        Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree required.

·        Three (3) years of experience in information management or data management for an international NGO or donor-funded project required, USAID-funded projects preferred.

·        Experience in public relations for the non-government or business sector, with knowledge of the Ukrainian media market, particularly in Eastern Ukraine is desirable. 

·        Quick learner who can work independently under minimal supervision and work closely with other staff members, partners, and USAID to meet reporting requirements and compile necessary information gathered from a variety of sources in a timely fashion.

·        Experience with, and knowledge of, local and international NGOs and community-based organizations implementing relevant activities and programs in Ukraine.

·        Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple high priority tasks simultaneously.

·        Fluent in English and Ukrainian or Russian.
