TEAM/PROGRAMME: Ukraine Country Office

LOCATION: Slavyansk, with possible travels around Ukraine (GCA, NGCA) and abroad

GRADE: 4

CONTRACT LENGTH: till 31 Dec 2018 with possible extension

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: Provide translation/interpretation services and admin. /clerical support to SCI Ukraine country Office.

Reports to: Admin. Officer

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

Responsibilities:

• Perform written, full translation at a fixed time and with exact translation correspondence to original’s lexical, stylistic and semantic content. Adherence to standard requirements regarding technical terms and definitions.
• Provide interpretation on different events
• Perform translations proofreading.
• Assist Administrative Department with visa support, travel arrangements, other paperwork, filing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in English language

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in translation
• Knowledge or experience of NGO work desirable
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required) and Russian/Ukrainian
• Computer literate (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office)
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and discretion with confidential information
• Ability to work independently and proactively
