The Right to Protection (R2P) is a charitable fund that strives for Ukraine to become a country where refugees, stateless, non-citizens and displaced persons enjoy dignity and protection. For the new project, we are looking for the Communication Specialist to become a part of our team to share our values and to strengthen R2P communication potential.

The Project is focused on monitoring, protection counselling, and advocacy facilitating freedom of movement in the government controlled areas along the line of contact and in entry exit checkpoints to non-government controlled areas.

The position is settled in Kyiv at the R2P Head Office.

Duties & Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Communication Specialist in coordination with Communication Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

• assisting in implementation of internal and external communications’ strategy/plan for the organization;
• collecting all available information and expertise, ensuring effective, strategic and evidence-based advocacy messages;
• drafting communication messages for legislative and policy changes developed by R2P;
• regularly updating organization’s information materials including reports, brochures, leaflets, etc.;
• producing of public relations materials, editing reports, and assisting with planning, publicizing, and carrying out special events;
• engaging directly with government officials and civil society representatives as appropriate for implementation communications plan;
• assisting in development of internal communications and external media relations, establishing and maintaining contacts with the press centers of the governmental and non-governmental stakeholders;
• assisting in management of message development, media relations and maximize media opportunities;
• building and sustaining an organization’s image and reputation for quality and reliability, ensure a favorable opinion  the project;
• writing and updating of content and PR materials in website, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, LinkedIn, YouTube;
• integrating R2P’s expertise into internal and external communications strategy and assisting in making it available for learning;

Required qualifications 

• University (MS) degree, preferably in marketing, social sciences, journalism or law;
• Ability to work in team and independently;
• Deadline oriented and perfect time management skills;
• Willingness to pursue innovations in communications;
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art means of communication;
• Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy;
• Familiarity with Ukrainian society, institutions, agencies;
• Reasonable familiarity with humanitarian and migration themes;
• Excellent Ukrainian & Russian and English language proficiency;
• Relevant working experience over three years preferred.
