The Project ‘Association4U’ (‘A4U’) is seeking Junior and Associate Fellows for the Project’s Translation Unit, which provides support to the Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration (GOEEI) in the translation and revision of EU and Ukraine legal acts and related documents. 

Interested candidates can apply for a position on a part-time or full-time basis. Translation work can be performed at home (online) although from time to time Fellows will be required to travel to the Association4U premises or central governmental institutional offices in Kyiv including to receive training.

The successful Junior Translation Fellow Candidate appointed to this important role will be required to perform on a full-time basis at home (online) the following tasks:

• The translation of EU and Ukraine legal acts and related documents foreseen under implementation of the Association Agreement from or into English
• Consultation and participation with Associate Fellows and experts in specialist areas.

The following professional qualities are required:

Education:

• Bachelor Degree in Languages (Philology/Linguistics/Translation), preferably covering English and/or Law.

(Would be an advantage): 
a certificate of proficiency in English (TOEFL, IELTS, or similar)

Work experience, knowledge and skills:

• Professional experience not required, although some previous translation experience an advantage
• Perfect command of the Ukrainian language
• Excellent writing skills and command of grammar
• Excellent knowledge of English language (at least level C1 according to Common European Framework)
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

(Would be an advantage):

• knowledge of Ukrainian and EU law
• experience in legal and technical translations
• experience in using translation software (Memo Q, Trados etc).

The successful Associate Translation Fellow Candidate appointed to this role will be required to proofread and revise translated texts and provide translation consultancy services to Ukrainian central government institutions. Their activities will include:

• The proofreading and revision of translated EU and Ukraine legal acts and related documents foreseen under the AA/DCFTA implementation from or into English,
• The development and updating of terminology/glossaries,
• The coordination of crosscutting issues with other Fellows of the A4U Project.

The following professional qualities are required:

Education:

• University Master’s Degree in Languages (Philology/Linguistics/Translation) or/and Law, International relations, Public Administration, Economics or Business with Languages or/and Engineering and Industrial Technology Sciences with Languages;

(Would be an advantage): a certificate of proficiency in English (TOEFL, IELTS, or similar) or postgraduate studies/research fellowship in EU countries in the field of languages

Work experience, knowledge and skills:

• At least 7 years of general professional experience,
• Minimum 5 years of specific experience in translation and translations’ proofreading and revision,
• Perfect command of the Ukrainian language,
• Excellent writing skills and command of grammar
• Excellent knowledge of English language (at least level C1 according to Common European Framework)
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

(Would be an advantage):

• knowledge of Ukrainian and EU law;
• experience in legal and technical translations’ revision and proofreading;
• experience in using translation software (Memo Q, Trados etc).

Applicants must be organized and disciplined in order to meet deadlines, and able to work with minimum supervision.

Applicants must be Ukrainian citizens, and should not have been employed by the Ukrainian public administration within last six months.
