Background
The project “Promoting local democracy in Ukraine” is carried out by the Congress of Local and Regional authorities of the Council of Europe as part of the Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017. It aims to improve the implementation of democratic principles in Ukraine, by enhancing the institutional and leadership capacities of local elected authorities and disseminating best practices in local democracy nation-wide.
The project works on development of capacity of the local elected representatives in the sphere of local democracy, namely transparency, ethics, citizen engagement. Additionally it promotes political participation and activism among young local leaders. The internship at CoE will be a chance to learn about CoE policies and procedures. It will provide an excellent opportunity to develop skills in planning, execution of a number of activities, arranging study visits, seminars, workshops, coordinating the work of service providers and providing support in the sphere of project management and daily administrative work of the project team.
Duties and responsibilities of an intern:
Administrative support of the activities organised within the project
Drafting letters, invitations, sending correspondence
English- Ukrainian and Ukrainian- English translation of various documents and presentations
Drafting of short news for the CoE newsletter and website, Facebook page
Collection of data for reporting purposes and assistance in report drafting
Logistical support of events
Other duties as may be requested by the supervisor
Required skills and educational background
Currently enrolled in Master’s program in accredited University in Ukraine or recently graduated (within one year) from a Masters’ program.
Computer literacy in standard office applications such as MS Office, experience in usage of social networks.
Fluency in Ukrainian and English
Terms of involvement
It is expected that the intern will work 38 hours/week and is eligible for 2 days of vacation/month.
Although the position is unpaid, the intern will be insured by the CoE for the whole duration of the internship, against the risk of sickness and accident.
