The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen democracy worldwide. NDI programs are supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and other donors.
NDI-Ukraine is currently seeking a full time staff member for its Parliamentary/Civic Programs. This is a full-time position reporting to the Parliamentary and Civic Program Managers.
Job Title: Parliamentary/Civic Program Assistant, NDI Ukraine
Task and Responsibilities:
- Work in cooperation with the Parliamentary/Civic teams to contribute to the design and implementation of program activities and events;
- Contribute to regular written political briefings for NDI team;
- Contribute to weekly program updates, write activity reports, assessments and perform any other written communication as required;
- Conduct research assignments on parliamentary issues, national reforms, electoral and political processes in Ukraine as required;
- Provide oral translation at meetings, trainings, conferences and translate written documents as required;
- Organize and maintain a schedule of meetings in consultation with the Parliamentary and Civic teams;
- Provide administrative and logistical support during travel of program staff;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Sociology, Public Administration or Linguistics with a focus on policy development;
- Ability to demonstrate a keen interest in Ukraine’s reform and political processes, including civil society development, and political and parliamentary process;
- Work experience in a related field is preferred, together with a thorough understanding of the political and civic landscape in Ukraine;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Fluency in Ukrainian and English;
- Ability to work in organized manner, meet deadlines and work in a team;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required;
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet);

Deadline:
The deadline for the submission of the required documents is by COB on June 9, 2016.
Only selected candidates will be invited for a written test on June 21-22.
Successful finalists will be invited for an oral test and an interview on June 30.
A successful candidate is expected to start work immediately or no later than July 18th.
