About DRC/DDG
DRC/DDG implements activities in eastern Ukraine to assist internally displaced and conflict-affected persons. DRC/DDG field offices are located in Mariupol, Slovyansk/Severodonetsk, and the head office is located in Kyiv. Activities include shelter repair, legal assistance and information, psycho-social counselling, adolescent right protection, livelihood restoration, and mine risk education. DRC also works to promote durable solutions and strengthen capacities of duty bearer, stakeholder and local communities and providing policymakers, key ministries, legislators, and civil society groups involved with internal displacement with direct and concrete assistance in ensuring protection that mitigate the effects of displacement. Donors include OFDA, ECHO, DFID, SDC, BPRM and UNICEF.
About the job
DRC Ukraine broadens and strengthens DRC legal protection services for the IDPs and conflict affected people of Ukraine. The Legal Assistance Unit implements legal aid program both directly through DRC’s own lawyers as well as through partnership with national legal aid NGOs. The short term objective of the Unit is to ensure that DRC and its partner lawyers provide high quality legal aid services. High quality shall be attained through, among others, the provisioning of back office support to field lawyers, knowledge management, and integration of legal aid services within DRC’s livelihood, shelter and other protection programs. The mid-term objective of the Unit is to develop relevant and innovative product and services with the view to increasing quality of service, and efficiency in service delivery. The objective also calls for adoption of innovative means for accessing beneficiaries in grey zone and non-government controlled areas. The other mid-term objective of the Unit is to position DRC on a platform for high impact advocacy. The long term objective of the Unit is to transfer the knowledge and capacity to national actors and contribute towards strengthening the broader civil society resources.
DRC/DDG in Ukraine is currently looking for a qualified Legal Aid Junior Officer to ensure monitoring and quality control of legal aid project implementation and reporting; to provide maintenance of database and ensure that all projects under the management of Legal Unit meet requirements relating to statistics, IPT, PDM. The Legal Aid Junior Officer reports directly to the Legal Assistance Programme Manager.

Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to work directly with field staff for all legal assistance programme and protection programme to collect and compile initial inputs. To be successful in this role we expect you to have proficiency in Database software/platforms including: Kobo, Open Data Kit, Survey monkey, Access and advanced Excel skills etc.
