Internship UNHCR Representation in Ukraine

Purpose:

The objectives of the UNHCR Kyiv internship scheme are to:

• Provide Intern with an opportunity to gain practical work experience related to her/his academic programme or future employment in the field related to the UNHCR mission;
• Enable the UNHCR office to benefit from the work undertaken by Intern.

Qualifications/requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate students studying in the area of statistics, political science, communications and media, data management, information technologies;
• Excellent command of English, Ukrainian and Russian;
• Ability to work fairly, independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility to effectively benefit from the internship.

Duties:

• Assist in finding specifications of items to be procured under the programs of community based initiatives and QIP projects in order to follow UNHCR procurement procedures;
• Assist with maintaining of the database of the main stakeholders working with IDPs in Central and Western Ukraine and other Unit related data systems;
• Monitor the IDP related information in the media as well as in the web-sites of the main stakeholders in the Central and Western Ukraine i.e. regional news, adoption of regional programs, tendencies/news/concerns on IDPs in Unit’s areas of responsibilities;
• Assist in research, preparation, provision and dissemination of IDP related information as required by supervisor;
• Assist in following up some incoming correspondence as well as managing incoming calls under coordination of Field (Protection) Unit staff;
• Assist in preparation of the events e.g. workshops, meetings etc.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Administration and supervision of interns:

Motivation letter and CVs for internship in English should be sent to [email protected] to the attention of HR Assistant. Only short listed candidates will be invited for a walk-in interview.

Interns maintain the same working hours as regular staff (9 am to 6 pm; Monday-Friday). At the end of the Internship the supervisor will indicate whether the terms of the Internship Agreement have been met. If so, Interns will be presented with a letter of reference covering the period of the Internship and a certificate.

Terms of internship:

The internship is for a period of August – December 2017. Interns are required in the following location: UNHCR Head Office in Kyiv.

Please note that internship at UNHCR Representation in Ukraine is unpaid!
