Міжнародна організація «Open Society Foundations» шукає фахівця у фінансовий відділ, який працюватиме з рахунками. Місце роботи - Нью-Йорк. Дедлайн - 26 липня 2017 року (далі - англ.).

The Accounting team works as a global unit with staff in Open Society Foundations (OSF) hub offices in New York, Budapest, London, Barcelona and Brussels.  In addition to supporting these offices, we also support offices in Washington DC, Baltimore, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Mexico City, Singapore, and future regional offices currently in the pipeline. The Accounting team is delineated into US and European Accounting teams where the US team supports the US legal entities and the Europe team supports the Non-US legal entities. We provide a wide range of services including: payment processing, accounting policy and procedural advice, cash flow management, legal entity audit and financial statement preparation, and tax filing compliance. We also work in partnership with other teams such as IT, Legal and Grants to provide guidance and support to the various OSF Foundations around the world.

Job Profile

The Accounts Payable Clerk will process invoices in a timely manner including reviewing coding and source documents for accuracy before posting, recording general ledger transactions and preparing standard journal entries. They will also be responsible for providing guidance to staff on proper coding when needed. Work is performed under general supervision and independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Review and approve all payment requests, invoices and expense reports;
  • Research questions  and communicate issues on payments and ensure timely follow up with both internal staff and external vendors;
  • Create and modify vendors in accounting system;
  • Review approve/reject vendor requests in Salesforce Vendor Data Management application;
  • Distribute, mail, or ensure delivery of signed checks as per instructions on payment request;
  • Create journal entries as needed, to be posted by supervisor;
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end close process;
  • Prepare analysis of accounts and reports, as required;
  • Assist with tax filings at year end;
  • Performs other duties and ad hoc analysis as assigned

Candidate Profile

The Accounts Payable Clerk should have at least two years of experience working in an office setting. The candidate is expected to have been working in an accounting department of a company or in the accounts payable department where they reviewed and approved large volume of invoices and expense reports submitted for payment in a cloud based software. The candidate will also have a basic understanding of accounting using US GAAP and knowledge of per diems, Accountable plan, and travel/expense guidelines.  The ideal candidate must have a high-level of self-motivation, ability to set and meet goals, while working comfortably in a dynamic environment where tasks may change in order to manage resources. They must be willing to work overtime during peak periods.  Experience with or understanding of basic accounting in not-for-profit organization would be a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Manage work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, research financial data, troubleshoot and follow through on projects  to completion, possess strong attention to detail, while meeting strict deadlines;
  • Exercise good listening and excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with internet research and database management;
  • Must be able to exercise critical thinking skills including good judgment and be a solutions-oriented individual.
  • Show discretion and ability to handle confidential issues;
  • Provide excellent customer service with a pleasant disposition and diplomatic manner when interacting with colleagues and the general public;
  • Familiarity with OSF's entity structure preferred;
  • Strong understanding of cultural differences and the proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds within a complex organization;
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) with a major in Accounting from an accredited college or university;
  • Experience with processing accounts payable invoices required;
  • Knowledge of General Ledger accounting software, NetSuite preferred;
  • Familiarity with Concur is preferred, administrator experience is a plus;
  • High degree of comfort with a variety of IT systems and in importing/exporting data;
  • Knowledge and understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
