Key accountabilities: Head of communications will set and guide the strategy for advocacy and all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate the mission of Hope and Homes for Children (www.hopeandhomes.org.ua) and promote the changes, new models in child care and child protection system which lead to better outcomes for children. This includes:     

• Develop, lead implementation and evaluation of communication and advocacy strategies of the organization. Ensure proper communication in the framework of reform of child care and child protection systems, deinstitutionalization and social services to support  children and families
• Manage all organization’s communication channels (websites and social networks) and develop strong relationship with media representatives
• Create rich and creative content, messages  that are   optimized for target audiences
• Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic materials including press releases, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, articles, video etc.
• Support advocacy work; interact with key stakeholders in governmental and non-governmental sector to support the development and implementation of new policies; establish working partnerships with allies, plan and implement relevant capacity building activities 
• Coordinate and organize  campaigns, events, meetings to support communication and advocacy strategies
• Develop project proposals and search for funds to support implementation of organization’s mission and advocacy

Position requirements:

• Higher education in social sciences, social work, public administration, or other related fields
• At least five years of work experience in the social welfare related areas, in public or non-profit sector which includes first-hand project management experience, successful communication campaigns
• Understanding the child protection environment in Ukraine
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to manage multidisciplinary teams; self-motivated with positive and professional approach
• Confident communicator and presenter 
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude
• English proficiency in both speaking and writing
