The project will be implemented by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the Right to Protection (R2P). DRC is an international humanitarian non-governmental non-profit organization working in 35 countries throughout the world with a mandate to promote and support, promote and support protection and durable solutions to conflict-affected populations. R2P, an all-Ukrainian charitable foundation, in partnership with HIAS, an international non-governmental non-profit organization, assists refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons in Ukraine.  

The project’s major objective is to ensure that internally displaced persons (hereinafter IDPs) in Ukraine exercise their human rights through conducting protection monitoring and outreach in the 16 regions of Ukraine, developing of a comprehensive analysis of the legal framework regarding IDPs in Ukraine and advocating for the improvement of government policy and legislation, and its implementation in response to the problems identified during the monitoring.

Duties & Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Information Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for developing and carrying out the internal and external communications strategy/plan for the project;
  • Effectively communicates with the other technical project coordinators and provides them with communications support; collects all available information and expertise and ensures effective, strategic and evidence-based advocacy;
  • Drafts recommendations for legislative and policy changes in the relation to the protection of IDPs;
  • Develops communications and information strategy and carries out communications activities to promote and share information about the project;
  • Integrates DRC’s/R2P’s expertise into internal and external communications strategy and assists in making it available for learning;
  • Produces and regularly updates project’s information materials including reports, brochures, leaflets, etc;
  • Participates in and facilitates projects trainings and workshops as appropriate;
  • Acts as communications focal point including management of press and other media inquiries;
  • Supports project’s communications and public information plan;
  • Produce public relations materials, edits reports, and assist with planning, publicizing, and carrying out special events;
  • Engages directly with government officials and civil society representatives as appropriate;
  • Develops internal communications and external media relations, establishes and maintains contacts with the press centers of the governmental and non-governmental stakeholders;
  • Manages message development, media relations and maximizes media opportunities.
  • Builds and sustains a project’s image and reputation for quality and reliability, ensures public views a project favourably;
  • Develops internal communications and external media relations, establishes and maintains contacts with the press centers of the governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.

Required qualifications 

  • University degree, preferably in social sciences, journalism or law;
  • Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy;
  • Excellent management and communication skills;
  • Familiarity with Ukrainian society, institutions, and agencies;
  • Reasonable familiarity with humanitarian themes such as displacement, education, shelter, food security and nutrition, health, livelihoods, protection, water, sanitation and hygiene;
  • Excellent Russian and English language proficiency;
  • Relevant working experience, over three years preferred.

We offer

R2P will offer the successful applicant a 9-month contract, renewable dependent on funding and performance.
